Is it true that you cannot just walk in to the buffet style dinner when you would like? Do you have to go at a set time? What is the dress code for this?

If you are talking about the casual dining offered on all Celebrity ships, you have to make reservations (I think a day in advance) to have the casual dining. The casual dining is not in the main restaurant. I've never done it so I can't tell you what the food is like.<BR><BR>You'll love the Summit. We were on her last May, and have booked a back to back Alaska on her this August/September.

We were just on the Summit 1/31, and while we did not do the alternate dining ourselves, our friends had checked into doing it. Yes, you do have to make a reservation and there are certain times during the day when you are suppose to do so (certain hours in the morning &amp; certain hours in the afternoon) and I'm pretty sure you can do it the same day you want to eat there. It's not a full buffet--I think you get up to get your salad, soup, &amp; maybe dessert, but you order your entree from a waiter and it is served to you. There is a suggested gratuity of $2.00 per person, which you can arrange to have added to your sign&amp;sail card.<BR><BR>We absolutely LOVED the Summit. Maybe I'm reading the question differently than everyone else. The Summit has a buffet restaurant (Ocean/Cafe Grill) that does not require reservations or have any sort of dress code (other than shoes and shirts type). There is no set time but the restaurant is closed at certain times to prepare for meals. If you don't want the more formal sit down meals this works great. Had most of my breakfasts and lunches here. Only had dinner once as I personally prefer the main dinning room.

Ilenfest is right. We too were on the 1/31 cruise on the Summit. The buffet is only open for breakfast and lunch and for a late afternoon tea time. The alternative dining is at the back of the same area and is just as described by Ilenfest. The ship was great, loved the Revelations group, the duo in the Rendesvous lounge pretty dead, overall the entertainment super.
