DZ,
I HAVE NOT BEEN ON THE ECSTACY BUT HAVE SAILED ON MANY OF CARNIVAL'S SHIPS. THIS SHIP IS IN THEIR SUPERLINER CLASS WHICH MAKES IT A GREATSHIP TO START WITH. CARNIVAL HAS WHAT I LIKE TO REFER TO AS CONSISTANCY. EVERY CRUISE HAS BEEN BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. MY FAMILY AND I GO EVERY YEAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPIERIENCE AND THAT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING; FOOD,ENTERTAINMENT,STAFF SERVICE,CLEANLINESS,ACTIVITIES,CABIN SIZE,OR BEING ABLE TO GET TO SLEEP AFTER ALL OF THIS. I WILL LET YOU IN ON A LITTLE SECRET OF MINE, ALWAYS BOOK AN OUTSIDE CABIN. THERE'S NOTHING LIKE WATCHING THE OCEAN FROM BED.I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT OUR 13 YEAR OLD SON TURNED DOWN SPACE CAMP TO RETURN TO CRUISING WITH CARNIVAL. THAT TO ME IS A GREAT STATEMENT SINCE HIS LIFE REVOLVES AROUND ANYTHING BUT BEING BORED.

We were on the Ecstasy for a 3 night trip to Nassau in september 2000. The decor is garish (unless you like orange everywhere), the crowd is loud and the music in the disco was nothing but RAP for three days, BUT the service was excellent, the ship very clean, the shows quite good and the food the best of the three cruises I have been on this year (Renaissance and Royal Caribbean). It was a good value but I would try Royal Caribbean next time to Nassau.
It is nice to hear people speaking positively about Carnival for a change. It is all true.

There are quite a few who do not care for the decor. Granted the Fantasy Class ships are quite eclectic but this is the what the designer had in mind to convey the "fun" type vacation.

Yes, the ship is "loud" but there is a quiet pool in the back of the ship and there are a few lounges that have mellow music. The musicians are the best. The dining room is rather loud with the singing and parading waiters but as one person said .... "hey, this ain't church."

Will have to differ about the "rap" music in the disco. If it was all "rap" the crowd would leave. I find it mostly hip-hop. Granted we are not in the 50's but they do play a slow tune at 3:30 AM.

Paul
