Bringing drinks on RCCL?

I recently saw a post about bringing your own sodas and wine on Carnival. Is the policy pretty much the same on Royal Carribean?? Thanks!

We took wine and champagne aboard the Monarch and the Majesty and had no problems but that was 3 and 4 years ago -- the rules could have changed.

just returned from cruise on Enchantment of Sea. My husband brought along rum. He put in a sports bottle. While at the pool he just ordered coke and put his own rum in. We save al0t. Also, wine in a box is great.

We just got back from a trip on the Nordic Empress, and we brought on board water and sodas (cans). We didn't even attempt to hide the 12-pack of sodas, and carried it pretty openly. We also brought a mini cooler which our cabin steward kept well-iced for us throughout the trip. This was after he summarized the charges for the sodas and water provided in our cabins, too! As for bringing wine, I would assume it would be okay for drinking in your room and possibly even on the pool deck, but I do know that if you bring the bottle into dinner with you, RCCL charges a corkage fee.

Just returned Sunday night from Monarch of the Sea. Didn't seem to be a problem buying sodas, water or liquor at the terminal in San Juan, however, at all other ports, all bags being brought onto the ship were being scanned. (like x-rays at the airport). Obvious bags and boxes of liquor were taken and marked with your cabin number for return at the end of the cruise.

Me again. I forgot to mention that they did charge an $8 corkage fee for your own wine in the dining room.

Paul: I was wondering if you packed it into your checked luggage when boarding in Miami or carry on? Did you buy any at a port of call?

When boarding Sovereign of the Seas in January I carried a small flask-sized bottle of bourbon and a small bottle of Kahlua in my carry-on. The bags were X-rayed at the airport and at the Port of Miami, but nobody said a word to me. I mixed the bourbon in the free iced tea and lemonade (very tasty!) for afternoon drinks and the Kahlua with milk to make sombreros for a nightcap. I didn't drink any alcohol with dinner. <BR>

I packed the drinks in my suitcases, not in my carry-ons. I wrapped them in ziplocks. I also bought more liquor and juices in port. I had no problem with either.

When we went on Carnival's Celebration last September, we took a 12 pack of diet coke in a bag at check in. The bag was examined but nothing was said (we did get som strange looks though). When we returned from a port, every bag was examined before getting onboard and I saw one (drunk) passenger arguing with security about the 2 bottles of rum he wanted to bring on board. It is the announced and written policy of Carnival to confiscate bottles of liquor and return them at the end of the cruise.
