Hi, I will be in Ocho Rios in Mid-April. This will be my first trip to Jamaica. I need to know the best rum to purchase, how much I should pay and also how much may I bring back to the U.S.

Hello again, Sue, the best is the J. Wray and Nephew Overproof White Rum. It has a delicious flavor. All Jamaicans swear by it and it is used for all ocassions. This should be purchased at the Airport because you get it by the case and it is duty free.

I can also confirm : try the above mentioned Overproof White Rum. It is delicious but pretty strong (well above 60 percent volume...).

The best Rum in Jamaica is from Barbados. The best Rum is Mount Gay Rum, better yet Mount Gay extra old rum!
