Trip Report

Always get great advice from here so I thought I would attempt my first trip report. (Go easy on my errors!)

Arrived Saturday May 24th-Checked into Plantana. Have stayed there 3 times. Nice folks, nice condos, cleaned daily. On a quiet stretch of 7MB. Easy walk to the hotels for Red Sail Sports and beachy bars, but never crowded.

Grocery shopped at The Strand-Foster's Food Fair. IGA, good selection for whatever you may need.

Took a 3 hour snorkel tour with Captain Bryan. Stingray Sandbar, Barrier Reef and Coral Gardens. Very rough water that day, but enjoyable. Have been out with other tours before, prefer the smaller size of this one.

Jolley Roger Pirate ship. Leaves from the South Terminal in Georgetown. Great for kids. Pirates and snorkeling stop. (Oh, and rum punch.) About 2 hours.

Drove to Rum Point. Love it there but it poured rain so we headed back to 7MB, where it continued to pour. Never have had this happen before. Almost an entire day of rain. About a 45 minute drive from 7MB.

We mostly laid around the beach and pool. Our idea of a vacation.

Best meal-Deckers. Tuesday nights is all you can eat lobster. Really good Blood Orange Mojitos.

Enjoyed fish tacos at Sunshine Grill. Casual, laidback small place.

Breezes by the Bay-Fair food. ACROSS the street from the water.

Used Dine In twice. Super delivery service if you are too lazy to go out. Both times delivery was quicker than expected.

If you like to shop, go early. Shops close by 4:30 or 5.

We love Grand Cayman and will return as many times as possible. Have been twice in June and think maybe the weather is a little better then.

Thanks for all your help.

Congrats on posting your first trip report! I'm sure it will be helpful to others.

Next time I would suggest putting "Cayman Islands" in the title or in the first paragraph because it took me until "7MB" to figure out where you were reporting on.

Glad you had fun!

Great report. You did a great job!

How close are the plantana condos to the Westin?

Peace, Greenie

Greenie,

Plantana is an easy walk from the Westin. I am terrible with distance. We walked down there for jet skis and drinks with no complaints from the kids so it was close!
