St. John during Christmas with kids
Hi...thinking of going to St. John over the holidays this year. We are looking for villa that sleeps 6 (4 adults, 2 kids). Can you recommend a nice, clean villa to stay in that is on the beach. Nothing that will make us go broke. Also, its our first time there so where is best place to stay on the island?

There are very few villas on the beach in St. John, and the ones that are on the beach will likely make you go broke (by just about any definition of that word) and very possibly have two-week minimums for the holidays. You might have better luck on St. Thomas and go to St. John for some daytrips.

Always helps if you give an actual dollar figure for your budget rather than nebulous terms like "Nothing that will make us go broke". Without knowing how much money you actually have to spend it's had to know when "you'll go broke".
That said, a simple google search for "Villa Rentals, St. John" will bring up lots of links or you can go to the USVI forum at Tripadvisor.com. Once there you'll see "Jump to a more specific forum" use the drop down menu to select St. John then use the "Vacation Rentals link on the left side of the page and you'll find listing for 380 different villas in all sizes and price ranges - many with links to several recent reviews. Pick a few that meet your definition of "nothing that will make you go broke". You can than post specific questions about the villas that most appeal to you.
Keep in mind that Christmas Week is the most expensive week on St. John (or anywhere el;se in the Caribbean) so expect to pay the higher rates that are quoted.
Budget for a rental car because no matter where you stay you'll need transportation if you want to fully explore the island and its many beaches.
