St. John
Just returned from 10 days in St. Thomas. One day we drove around St. John and had a lovely day had lunch at Skinny Legs and stayed most of the time at Maho Beach. Was very quiet and lovely fish. We went into town to eat at uncle Joes. As it was not yet open we decided to walk around abit. We were standing on the corner in front of the post office mind you it was 4:30 and an older women came up to us and asked us if we needed help. We said no just deciding where to go and she said "do not just stand here it is not safe here, go keep walking and please watch your children." We were very surprised by this because we did not feel intimidated at all. Needless to say we were a little concerned after that. We went for cocktails at a lovely outside cafe. Was this women justified in her comments?

I hope that the woman was NOT justified in saying what she said.
My family and I will be going to St.John in June..that is kinda freaky..maybe she was drunk??
Glad to hear that you had a great time.
Did you go to Coral World??If so how was it?We plan on going there also.

I would say the woman had an alterior motive or either crazy. I have milled about with my two children there and had no problems. That being said you can run into a character here and there, but I would not give this a second thought---have been there many times and never, ever felt threatened downtown or for that matter anywhere on St. John.
