St. Croix: Buccanneer, restaurants, activities?

We are planning a trip to St. Croix in August, and were thinking about staying at the Buccaneer. Any opinions on this resort? Also, any suggestions for for restaurants or activities?

Look thru some posts on this site and you will see that the Buc is one of the most loved resorts in STX. It is an excellent choice. Their food was quite good and there are several restaurants fairly close to it as well.

Their ocean front rooms were awesome. They had 3 small beaches and some decent snorkeling. There is a golf course and they had tennis courts. Enjoy!

I lived on St. Croix for 10 years. Buccaneer is very nice. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Make sure you take a day trip over to Buck Island (about 1 mile off-shore), an underwater national monument with asnorkeling trail. Big Beard's used to have a nice charter over there (don't know if he's still in business since it's been 4 years since I left). Beaches: make sure you go to Frederiksted one day and watch the sun go down. Also, don't miss Cane Bane on the north shore - a great beach and super diving off "the wall." If you want good local food, try Villa Morales in Frederiksted (great night life on weekends, too) or Brady's for lunch Queen Street in Christiansted) - a great local hangout and good Caribbean food. Be polite to everyone - a greeting of good morning, good afternoon and good night will make all the difference in the world! Have a great trip and enjoy!

Be careful if you go to Fred'sted, the stores aren't open unless a cruise ship is in port.

I find it odd that someone lived on an island for 10 years and doesn't know the correct spelling of the two major cities.
