On Curacao now

I will not be writing a trip report. Not my favorite island. We have not found any decent snorkeling. Stan, we found Mr. Goodlife, but his spots weren't any better than any others. Out in front of the Hilton/Marriott as good a spot as any that we have tried. Maybe we just missed the good spots, or maybe Curacao is only for divers.

On to Bonaire on Saturday. Owa

Owa, I'm so sorry that Curacao isn't living up to your expectation. But at least you have Bonaire to look forward to.

Safe travels.

Wow, what a disappointment on the snorkling. Hopefully, it was just the wrong time. We didn't care for the snorkeling in T & C while everyone else raves about it.

How did you like the Hilton? Was it up to your expectations?

Hope you like Bonaire better. Thanks for posting.

Owa, was it mainly the snorkeling that disappointed you? We just reserved at Lion's Dive and I understand there's some good snorkeling from their beach. Maybe you can try that tomorrow? I don't know if the beach is public or private there. For me, the snorkeling isn't a deal breaker. We just dabble in it. Were there other things that color your opinion of the island?

Oh Owa. Curacao is not a return island for us either but I certainly would never wish the same to others. So I'm sorry it was a disappointment to you. Have a great time on Bonaire.

We snorkled at the best spot so far---Kas Abou. Nice beach also. We went at least 1/2 mile along the rocks on the left (facing the water). It was clear and not so much wave action.

owa; Sorry to hear. The WEEST End's 6 bays usually has good to very good snorkeling at least as of Feb. 2006 (last visit). Forgot to mention Kas Abou. We liked it as well but found Klien Knip a little better back 18 mo. ago. The snorkeling off the beach at Sea Aquarium Resort on the EAST END was almost as good as Kas Abou. But that is about all the places we found in our 3 trips. Based on your bad experience you likely will find Bonaire better, especially Klien Bonaire, though we would say they were comparable. The diving off Bonaire is some of the best in the entire Caribbean. Hope it makes up for your less than satisfying experience. I will let you know about Belize (last trip 2004) compared to our trip to Honduras March '07. We are going Jan. 16-Jan. 24th our 40th anniversary. Then one of the trips we hope will rival Asia. We are going to Egypt for 9 days with 5 snorkeling and a little diving in the Red Sea on the Sinai Peninsula and 4 days between Cairo and Luxor (no water so no snorkeling) and 10 days in Israel but Eilat has been bleached out according to the biologists articles written in 2006-2007 about 60-70% and it has gone down pretty deep so even shallow diving has been affected. Therefore we will take a pass.
I hope you ENJOY the rest of your trip.Look forward to hearing about dinners you had in Curacao. I hope some of our favorites you tried and enjoyed.
