math for converting USD to EC

Last year sunnyboy told me a very simple way to convert USD to EC without using a calculator. Anyone out there know how to do this? Sunnyboy? It has escaped my little pea brain.

1 US Dollar = 0.77483 Euro
1 Euro (EUR) = 1.29060 US Dollar (USD)

These are current exchange rates at the close of markets 4/1/05.

Brenda,
The exchange rate at about 2.7 to 1 means that anything quoted as 1 EC is about 40cents US. 10 EC is $4. A simpler conversion is to round off to 2:1. Any EC price you see, think 50% off and that's the $US price. If you see a souvenier for 20EC, think 50% off = $10. I know this isn't accurate to the 3rd decimal place, but for my little pea brain it's good enough.

Ah, here's my quick converson formula for those of us who don't like to tax their brains while visiting the Caribbean - divide EC price by 3 and add 10% - the result will be within pennies of the normal exchange rate. For example, an item that cost EC$12.00 would be the equivelant of US$4.40., EC$15.00 comes to US$5.50. It works for any price.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Sunnyboy, that was exactly what I was looking for. I'm writing it down this time so I don't forget!
