Just returned from Beaches

Well!! Best vacation ever had. We had a one-bedroom honeymoon suite. Stayed for five nights (November) Weather was hot...but would start to cool down around 3:30 (after the daily 10 minute rain).
Restaurants: Reflections almost everyday for breakfast. they will cook your eggs to order. Best pancakes in the world. One am breakfast at Schnooers...but we waited ages for the food.
Lunch: Reflections a few times, Arizonas all others. You can sit at Arizonas dripping sweat and seawater without a hassel.
Dinner: Guiseppes one night (We were waiting over an hour for the French Restaurant and were just too hungry. Guess what! they share the same kitchen and also some of the food.
Kimonos: Great! We had a lackluster chef, but the food made up for it. We had a sample of steak and shrimp.
Schooners: Ate there twice. Giant Alaskan King Crab Legs. Great. Filet mignion was really just a normal steak. Peel to eat shrimp was overcooked.
Sapodillos: Fantastic. Best beef tenderloin ever! (and I'm from Jersey...we know gourmet!).
We never had dinner at Arizonas, but the kids did the night we ate at Sapodillos. They had the steak and chicken and were very happy.

Nightly entertaiment. Only made it the night we ate at Guisepppes, because it is right across from the restaurant. Normally I was sound asleep by 10 or 10:30...Husband wait up for the teenagers.

Bring walkie-talkies. It is the best way to stay in touch with the kids. My oldest (16) was a bit too old to enjoy Pirates Island Area, but he hung out at Bobby Ds eating constantly.

alchol. I really didn't drink too much. Just had a beer or two after the beach and then wine with dinner.

We hung out at the beach the whole time, but did walk around to visit the pools. They are beautiful. Can't imagine how people can drink in the heat and the sun. I guess I'm just getting too old.

The people who work there are very, very nice. The Belongers are a shy and restrained people, but are polite. the Jamaicans are very outgoing and nice. These employees work very, very hard. I honestly can't think of any problems that we had.

All in all, we had a great vacation (albeit an expensive one)...but I think my husband will consider returning next year! (YEA!!!)

Nice trip report. I wasn't 100% clear on exactly which Beaches Resort you stayed at.

DITTO!! We too just returned and had practically the same experience as Davsaz. We couldn't say enough good things about it. You don't want to miss lunch at Arizonas or the King Crab Legs at Schooners. Get to Schooners on the earlier side (They open at 6pm) or you'll have as much as a 1 hour wait.

We went with a 16 month old who had a blast. We used their kids club twice and were extremely disappointed with how they treated our daughter. The club seemed to be much better for the 4+ set. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. Don't miss crepes at the petit cafe from 3-5pm. Not too many people know about them and they are to die for. Then again, you can always go to Bobby D's for milkshakes. Leave some bigger clothes for the end of the trip, you'll want the room.

Jaclo,
We are leaving in less than 2 weeks for Beaches with our 21 mth old. I had heard good things about their kids club, so was surprised to see you were unhappy with it. Can you tell me what you didn't like about it? I thought it would be good to use when we want to go snorkeling one day. Also, I thought we may use it for an hour or so everyday to get a little relaxation time or for a dinner alone. (it will be our 4 year wedding anniversary while we are there) Did you put your child in the nursery, or in the 2-3 year old group? Did you use their cribs or did you bring your own? We're planning on bringing a pack n play for her to sleep in. Any other advice?
