Taxi
@ 17 CW,
strange ( no taxi) used to always be a couple outside the entrance, may have been one or two over at Memories, but you wouldn't see them from the street.
How did you find Starfish ( Villas) for hydro, food etc ? I got a couple weeks coming up shortly.
@ 20 W,
as I just mentioned, I'll be down there Feb 22- Mar 7, if your there at that time look me up, if I can get my moto out of storage and started I won't be hard to find.

CJ, I actually stayed at both resorts - please do not ask how. No power outages at all as far as I could tell. Food was typical Cuban buffet at either - good enough - better at Memories. The mosquitos were a pain but we are all a bit more sensitive of that these days.
Loved the beach. I did do a walk to the campismo and got kicked out. I will post fotos of that.

You got KICKED OUT of the campismo?? What the heck did you do there, CubanWaters? jajaja
By the way, welcome back, CW. I'm sure you're happy to be back in Canada and free of those pesky skitters and the threat. Now it's just the freaking COLD and SNOW biting your butt!

I wish that I stayed longer in Cuba 🇨🇺 Terry.
The large campismo beside Starfish Jibacoa resort looked vacant except for an open office. Maybe this place is only open in summer?
A couple of guys chased me down and demanded I stop taking fotos and leave. I really don’t know what their problem was.
There was a very large pool 🏊♂️ there that didn’t have any water in it. A family of three from the area and their small puppy came to talk to me. They were on their way to the beach to do some fishing.

Campismo cabins

Vacant very large campismo piscina.

CW, they probably thought you were a Canadian spy posing as a tourist. jaja But seriously, likely just a couple of Cuban security guards power tripping - you probably provided them with the most excitement they'd experienced there in the last 4 months.
I remember secretly taking fotos of 2 Cuban motorcycle police officers randomly pulling cars over near Hotel Plaza in Camaguey city many years ago - I was taking those fotos at dusk. But my Nikon camera automatically sensed that there wasn't enough light and produced a FLASH when taking one of my fotos. The policemen saw the flash and started looking around. They saw me sitting there with my camera in my hands and one of them began walking towards me. I stood up and he got right in face shouting at me and waving his finger - no, no, no! I had to go into my dumb tourist routine acting as if I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to take fotos of the policia. For a moment, I thought he was going to confiscate my camera, but after blasting me and my "oh golly gee" attitude in English, he felt satisfied enough and walked away - another power tripper in Cuba. I definitely remember driving past that campismo. Grande.
Not decided yet but we will go late March/early April. If we go to playa Jibacoa, we want to inquire about any hiking in those small mountains behind the resorts. I remember there being good snorkelling there.
