JAMAICA-RITZ CARLTON-SPECIAL

NY papwrs offering 6 nights with airfare at Ritz for $695 April to June. Sounds like a great deal. Husband and I might go. Any commnets on Ritz would be appreciated. Rooms, Beach, etc. How expensive are the meals, breakfast and dinner. What does it cost to get to Montego Bay from hotel? Do they provide a shuttle?
Thanks.

The price you state is a steal for the ritz. I stayed at the ritz-carlton montego bay last summer. It is absolutely fabulous!!! The rooms are spacious, separate tub and shower, and double vanity. Definitely go to the white witch (at their golf course) for breakfast (reasonably priced) and enjoy the view. The food there is delicious, definitely 5 star. The hotel now offers a meal plan. The hotel provides shuttle almost to everywhere and has a tour desk. The hotel has a large pool and tennis courts. There is a small beach behind the resort. The much larger beach is only a 5 minute shuttle ride away for swimming and water sports. The beach water is not turquoise blue, but had fun any way. The ride from the airport to the ritz is approximately a half hour. See ritzcarlton.com (rose hall, jamaica) for more info. I would definitely stay there again!!!! The service is 1st class. Try their spa services. I don't remember the prices for the meals, but I don't remember them being too expensive. I don't know if the shuttle will pick you up from the airport because I switched to the ritz after one night at another hotel. The ritz picked me up though at no cost. I tipped the driver. Have fun.

She's right. The Ritz was wonderful. We went last April and it was divine. If we had known of a meal plan, we would have taken it, since we spent more than I had hoped for the food. All their restaurants were lovely, and the white witch a great experience at dusk. The beach at the hotel is not very nice but they take you on a shuttle to another location. My daughter went water-skiing there and had a great time. Enjoy!

Just got back last night from a 5 day-4 night all-inclusive stay at the Ritz. This was through Air Jamaica and cost $1500 p/p including air, transfers and tips. Taxes and surcharges extra.

It was truly worth it for the AI package. Any drink you want and anything from the menu at any restaurant. Their menus were very creative, but the food was just OK, not like the food at other Ritz hotels.

Service was 5 star. There were staff members everywhere to help you. You never had to wait for anything. This has been stated on this board before, but the facility is gorgeous, very understated but elegant. Beach is not as good as others in Jamaica but still nice with again, great service and amenities.

It starts when you arrive at Montego Bay airport. You are escorted to a private Ritz check-in desk in the terminal and then escorted to their own private shuttle which is not like an ordinary shuttle bus. They hand out bottled "Ritz Water" and you're on your way. Right away y

They stopped advertising it in the Chicago papers in Jan. If so, do it!

I think the deal you are getting is excellent. I stayed there in November, 2001 for $120/nt on an internet booked, credit card special. The rooms were beautiful and the service was top notch all the way. I was really impressed with the staff.

The rooms were done local style, lots of pastels. Beds were comfortable, summerweight down comforters as I recall. No carpeting in our room, various rugs were laid out here and there, overall pretty comfortable.

The beach is very small and it didn't look too great for activities, but they did offer a shuttle to a better beach nearby.

The airport to hotel shuttle was a bit expensive, although nice. I can't remember the price they quoted, but we ended up taking a cab to the hotel, which cost us $10 I think?
