We’re a group of 5 heading to a sailing trip in Tortola next month. We will have several suitcases with us. I went to the US Virgin Islands last year, but this will be my first time going over to the BVI. I read that water taxis handle customs for you, but I’m not sure what that actually means. If you used a water taxi, how was the customs process? Did they make it faster or easier?

We used a water taxi from St. Thomas to Tortola and honestly it was way easier than I expected. There were 6 of us with big suitcases, so I was kinda worried customs would be a pain. We used SeaHorse Water Taxi and they took care of most of the paperwork before we even got there.

We used Seahorse Water Taxi from St. Thomas to Tortola last spring, it was super easy. They took care of all the customs paperwork for both sides, so we didn’t have to wait in any long lines. We just handed over our passports, they handled the process, and we were on our way. Definitely worth it, especially with luggage and a group.
