I really would like to honeymoon/wed at a nice resort in the Caribbean but I am having a hard time picking the Island. I am driving myself crazy trying to make a decision. I really want to go to a place by word of mouth, not by resort brochures because we all know how that can be. I have been doing extensive research via the Internet and have finally started to narrow down the choices. Unfortunately, every time I start to make a decision, some comment or information I find makes me change my mind. As of now, my choices are USVI, St. Lucia, and Grenada. Night life is not necessary but TV is a must per my fiancé. I am looking for more of a main stream resort. I don't know how much of the local customs we will actually get to see. I hope we will get out some, but if we don't, I want the resort to have enough to keep us busy. It will be a very small wedding (me and the groom). I want to be able to snorkel, swim and do all the cool beach stuff. I am interested in 24 hour room service. We want to be pampered! I definitely don't want to go somewhere that has an extreme amount of crime. <BR> <BR>I like the big resorts that St. Thomas has to offer, but it seems so crowded there. St. John seems quiet and beautiful, but not allot of choices for accommodations. St. Croix, I have found a few resorts, but don't have much info on them. I am interested in more information on the Buccaneer in ST. Croix. St. Lucia seems nice, but it is so hard to get to the nice resorts and I have heard the beaches are nicer in the USVI. My other choice, Grenada, has a few nice resorts, but I keep hearing allot of negative talk about Natives and public beaches with rude vendors. I am looking for people with experiences getting married and honeymooning in these places. First hand advice is what I am looking for. Has anyone been to any of these places that can offer me some information! Any help is much appreciated. Sorry for the long post, but I am looking for specifics! Thanks

Honey-Here's the deal. You want romance, and you want to have fun and be pampered. The bottom line is The Plantation Inn in Jamaica. The hotel is fabulous, the service is unbelievable, the views and weather are always perfect, the whole island is cemntered around romance, and for time to relax and enjoy the company of your fiancee. You can stay in bed all day, go out at night, have room service delivered to your door, enjoy all kinds of special attention and you will never be treated like a tacky tourist. Jamaica is the island of passion. Everyone goes there for their honeymoon. But, it's not like Disneyworld where everyone expects you to be just another clueless tourist with a fanny pack and a Goofy Hat. People treat you well, because they are glad that you picked their island, they know newlyweds when they see them, and because they are used to it, they give everyone special attention. There is a lot to do in Jamaica, the nature, beaches and shopping are all amazing. The Plantation Inn offers lower prices and the gauruntee of a perfect stay. <BR> My husband and I went there for our honeymoon, and went back again to celebrate our 1st, fifth and next year we'll go for our tenth anniversary. Everyone knows us as Andrea and Tim, and all the bellboys and room service people know us. Most of the staff there has worked there since it opened, so you can be sure that the comfort and quality won't change. Please, look into it, it is worth it. You'll be glad you did. You have my word on it.

Word of warning. I have never been anywhere in the Caribbean where I have had a TV in the room. If it is an must for your new husband, check first. Perhaps some of the large US style hotels have them now, I would not know since we have never stayed at one. We like smaller quieter properties.

We have been to Cancun, Barbados, Grenada and Nassau and met vendors in every one. We did hear that the grenadian vendors, especially on Grand Anse, were almost as pushy as those on Jamaica(supposedly). We did not find that to be true. I would not let a rumor spoil what could be an exquisite experience; A polite no when i wasn't interested was sufficient; otherwise, I was willing to learn and ask questions of the vendors trade and homeland. LaSource was sufficiently removed from the main traffic areas to be an ideal spot for everything else you seek EXCEPT the tv.

I have to let him have some kind of say. <BR>: ) Other than the TV thing, I am just going to pick the place and he will show up! (I hope he shows up hehehe ) Right now, I am not really considering Jamaica, although I might change my mind. I have heard too much negative information. My husband and I stayed at Wyndham Morgan Bay in St. Lucia in April, 97 and it has everything you mentioned including the TV. Although I'm not sure about the room service. It is all-inclusive with two restaurants and all drinks free all day long. You might want to check it out. Hope this helps and have a great wedding.

I'll give you another place to consider. Hotel Le Toiny, St Barths. Check out their web site. The Facility consists of 12 private villas, each with its own private pool. Breakfast is served each morning by your pool. Very romantic, private, secluded. Excellent restaurant (Le Gaiac) on site. Beautiful views. St Barts itself is loaded with fabulous restaurants and gorgeous beaches. Very French (English spoken everwhere). Also very expensive. <BR>The island is very safe and easy to get around. Usually a rental car or jeep is provided. <BR>We have been 3 times and can't wait to go back. <BR>There is not much night life. The evenings activities are dinner and each other (or reading, videos, etc. <BR>Let me know if you need any more info. Good luck.
