How’s the ride from Red Hook to Long Bay Beach resort in the BVI by water taxi. Are
Hey everyone! I’m planning a trip to Long Bay Beach resort in the BVI and trying to figure out the best way to get around. I’ll probably take a water taxi since I want to avoid the ferry schedule hassle.
How’s the ride usually? Are the seas calm or rough? I’ve heard the trip is about 30-40 minutes, and generally smooth unless there’s a strong swell or windy weather. I don’t usually get seasick, but I’d love to hear about others’ experiences and any tips.

The ride from Red Hook to West End customs is generally very smooth and quick because it’s only about 30-40 minutes across the channel. Most days, the seas are pretty calm, especially in the morning when winds are lighter. However, conditions can vary depending on the weather and season. During the winter months (December–March), northerly swells can sometimes make the water a bit choppy, but it’s rarely rough enough to cause issues. Water taxis are sturdy and handle the short crossing easily. If you’re not prone to seasickness, you’ll likely be perfectly fine. Try to travel earlier in the day for the calmest conditions, and you’ll get a beautiful, breezy ride with great views of BVI along the way.
