Help! New to this...where should we go?

HI! My husband and I are looking to go for 3nights/4days this May or June...we've been to St. John before and liked it. We are looking to stay at an AI. Flexible budget. We are leaving our 4 kiddo's at home and are looking to just realx!
Am I asking for too much????
We'd like a nice room (room service, stocked bar and whirlpool would be nice), beautiful beach, nice pool, swim up bar...we basically want to eat, drink and lay by the beach. We don't want to stay too far from the airport. Does this give enough info.? We'd like to go anywhere...Carribean, Mexico, some place tropical (except Hawaii, that's in 4 years!) Any help would be great!
Oh! I'd read of a place that had boats filled with bottled water, fresh fruit available everywhere, sun lotion and magazines laying out for when you're laying out...this sounds perfect! I'd like to be pampered, but not bothered. Not into spa's or gambling or wild night life. Just a romantic, RELAXING vacation!

You just described The Royal Playa del Carmen. It's everything you mentioned except it's about 45 minutes from the airport in Cancun. We are going the first week of Sept.

That's so funny you mention the Royal Playa as my friend and I are considering the Royal Cancun or Playa for a weekend getaway from our kids (a nice mother's day gift for us!!!) Even though it seems to be more for couples, my friend and I just want to relax, so we will be fine. It looks like it may be what you want and they have amazing deals right now on bookit.com. Another one to look at is Royal Hideaway playacar. You can find deals for that on skyauctions.com. My husband and I just got back from the Caves in Jamaica and it was fantastic. It was one of the most romantic places I've been. It's a small boutique all inclusive on the cliffs. There is no beach, but you do not miss the beach at all as you are laying out on little cut out areas in the cliffs and can jump in the water at any time. We had dinner in a cave that was amazing. We really can't wait to go back. It was truly pampering without being bothered. Complete relaxation. I did a trip report. My suggestion is to request a first floor unit Sea turtle or blue dolphin or stardust (the owners cottage) One drop is also very nice and cute. Stay away from Gary (he was a jerk, but the rest of the staff amazing!!! The resort is pricey, but not bad in the off season and worth every penny. It was a PERFECT getaway and a little different then a hotel setting. Their webiste is islandoutpost.com Hope that helps.

You mentioned pampered and budget. Those 2 usually don't go together. .. But you also mentioned, beautiful beach,swim-up bar and AI. Jolly Beach Resort in Antigua might have what you want. I was in Antigua Feb. 2006. We stayed in the timeshare section (Jolly Beach Vacations), which IMO is much better b/c you get the best of both worlds. The privacy and comfort of a t/s and the fun and liveliness of a resort. Do a search for both. Both are on the same property. If you need more info, let me know. The biggest problem w/ renting a t/s, in your case is:: they normally rent by the week.
