Has anyone ever booked a vacation through Sun Holidays?

Hi, I am thinking of booking my Caribbean vacation through Sun Holidays which operates out of Toronto. I usally book my trips through my trusty & reliable travel agent, but this is an opportunity to save $300. I wonder if it's worth it. Can anyone share their experiences with this company? Thank you.

Are you talking about www.sunholidays.ca? If so, that's where we just booked our holiday. It is actually run by one of the big travel agencies (the name escapes me right now but I think it's Carlson Wagonlit) and that's who you will deal with. We had some questions and special requests and I felt comfortable with the service. The first agent we talked to was quite junior and couldn't answer one of my questions but then we received an email the next day from a more senior agent. I have also read good reviews about them on several boards. It's hard to resist their prices too!!

Actually, Sun Holidays is a company in itself. It has no affiliation with Carlson Wagonlit. It is run by a guy in Toronto named Binod Singh. Who has opened and closed a number of different travel related companies. Including an airline that went under about 15 years ago, leaving passengers stranded.

They are not affiliated with ACTA either, which is the Association of Canadiand Travel Agents. They are a discount agency only. No service whatsoever. If you feel that is worth giving up to save $300.00 than go with them just don't expect help if you come across any problems with your trip.

If I were you I would stick with your "Trusty & Reliable Travel Agent".

I had a friend who booked with them and they weren't told what they would need for documentation and were refused boarding at the airport. I know my friend should have looked this up herself but she trusted the words of a professional. Now she is out $2500, and has nobody to turn to.

I would be very careful in dealing with this company.
If they're not registered with ACTA or ATOL then don't use them as if anything goes wrong you will lose everything and have no back up.......Good Luck

Have used Sunholidays for over 5 years...one or two vacations a year. Never a problem! Sun is a member of T.I.C.O. ...Travel Industry Council of Ontario. All travel offices, etc. are mandated to be a member, to protect the consumer. Sun gives a discount of 10-12% off brochure prices as well.

A word about sun is if anything does go wrong, you are on your own. After Canada 3000 went under, most reputable companies refunded or rebooked thier clients, but Sun did nothing.
