Good resort for 4 guys, late 20's??

Hi! My husband and 3 of his friends are planning to go to Cuba at the end of April. I have been helping them research resorts, but the reviews of most are so mixed it's very difficult. The main requirements would be 24hr. alcohol, an on-site disco which people actually go to, and a decent beach. And not a place that is mainly couples. Any suggestions? They were looking at Tryp Cayo Coco, but I'm wondering if it might be too quiet for them? Would someplace in Varadero be better? I can't seem to find a resort in Varadero that has mostly positive reviews. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention in my previous message that a resort with a golfcourse nearby or onsite would be ideal!

Hola Skidoo Chick:

Well if you need a golfcourse nearby, that means only Varadero will fit the bill. It has the only 18 hole course in Cuba. There's a nine-hole course in Havana for the diplomats though it is also open to the public.
Here's the link to the Varadero Golf Club.

You don't have to stay at the golf club resort (Melia Las Americas) though it is an exceptional 5 star. There is also a wide range of resorts. For more advice on resorts, you might try posting your request on the Caribline Cuba forum which is very Cuba specific and quite active.

More info on golf in Cuba can be found with Sol y Sun Vacations in Canada at.

Hope this helps you out some and gets you started down the fairways....

Thanks for the great info on golf in Cuba, Steve! I never thought there would be only 1 18-hole course in Cuba. That helps decide what area they should stay in anyways. Will start looking into resorts in Varadero and check out the forum you mentioned. Thanks again!

hey! my best friend satyed at the tryp cayo coco and said the only good thing about the entire vacation was the nice waters and the pizza. she said the rest of the food was terrible and the hotel itself was "okay"...i suggest you research further into hotels with more reputable names. Try the RIU chain. www.riu.com...we've stayed at 5 of their hotels now within the caribbean and we've only ever had good things to say. good luck

In Cuba Varadero would be better for them.

I went to cuba 2years ago and stayed at Brisas del Caribe - it was nice 24 hr service. The disco was never busy. Depending on the people at the resort they will probably have to leave the resort and go to another disco - that's what most people do in Varadero.

I met someone who stayed at Breezes and said it was the best.
