Hi Guys,

This is our first time to anywhere in the carribeans. We have picked Aruba as our destination for 4 nights. Do you guys going there at this time (May28th - Jun1)? Is the weather good?

We are thinking of staying either at the Marriott or the Westin. What do you guys think? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Went there about ten years ago. Stayed at Costa Linda. I don't know anything about the Marriott or Westin. We were there for a week. We used taxis to get around, you don't really need to rent a car. The place is safe and the Arubans are friendly and helpful. I got a sunburn sitting on the beach in the shade. The sand is pure white and reflects the sun. Obviously, use sunscreen. Lots of good restuarants. If I recall correctly, any store, restaurant, etc will call a cab for you if you ask. You'll have a great time.

Aruba is beautiful and u can also try a day trip to curacao which is by the ferry. as for the hotels i didnt stay in either of them but just check them out on the web and if u really like the beaches pick the one that is close to the water

We stayed at the Marriott Surf Club
and loved it. We also rented a car
which was great and easy to drive on this island. Weather is always a little windy in Aruba but warm.

I just returned in April and the weather was great. The weather is usually sunny, so don't worry. I stayed a the new RIU, a good all inclusive option. Bring plenty of sunscreen. Almost everyone I saw had a minor sunburn. Also it is very windy. In my opinion the island is safe but has gotten very commercialized over the years. Go to trip advisor for hotel reviews.

Marriott is a large complex of hotel and timeshare. We stayed there about 3 years ago. It was great! Aruba is windy, but I think it is windier at the Westin, because it juts out from the coastline there. It used to be a Wyndam hotel and that was something people complained about. With 4 nights, I would relax on the beach and eat at some of the great restaurants on the island. Use cabs and enjoy!
One of our fav restaurants is El Gaucho and that is located downtown.

Oh and Aruba weather is the same year round. Hot and sunny!

We just returned from 1 week in Aruba. We went on our friends timeshare. The Marriott is gorgeous and so is the Westin. I don't think you can wrong with either. It is approaching the most windy season so I was told. Our last few days we were stung by the sand. If this is the case you will have a gorgeous pool with lazy river at the marriott. With the tall buildings you can escape the winds perhaps. If you are the adventurouos type do the ABC jeep tour. You will see some of the island that a car couldn't get to due to the rough terrain. Also if you like ribs go to smokey Joes. The best ribs I ever had. If you want to rent a car do so prior to going we didn't and waited till we got there and paid a bit more. For the 4 days it more than likely could be worth it. The weather is always hot and sunny, not to worry. The winds blow out any rain clouds in a hurry. They consider rain, even a few drops, a blessing. Have fun.

Aruba is a generally flat island. It's renowned for its white, sandy beaches.
Either the Marriott or Westin hotel will provide enjoyment for you.

we stayed at the Hyatt a few years ago and loved it. the rooms (then) were a bit dated, but the grounds were just spectacular. We visited all of the hotels along that area and we both agreed that upon a return we would only stay at the Hyatt. However, the Wyndham/Westin property was nice and so was the Marriott. It depends on what you want. If you like wind a large comples and spa services, the Westin will be great. If you prefer less wind.... move on. The Hyatt is near a bunch of little restaurants, which significantly reduced our costs as we ate lunch and breakfast at these off-resort venues. The Marriott lodgings are at the far end of the road and are a bit isolated. If you need a suite of apt. like lodging, it would be a good choice. But the outdoor facilites felt "cold" and a bit like an apt. complex. The Hyatt also has a lot of birds on the property which were a big hit with the kids. At the time, we had no kids, but the kids at the resort seemed to love the birds. Loved the food at the Hyatt.

I didn't want to say this, to sound "negative" cause everyone to there own opinion. We spoke with a couple on our return trip on the plane who stayed at the Marriott. She said it was "cold" isolated and the workers were not at all friendly. They were a couple in early 40's I would estimate. She said it was not a fun place at all. I saw the Hyatt as well and the grounds were spectacular. How about the Radison? That looked nice to me as well.
