December 2011 at the Westin or Radisson?

Found a tour for $1200pp which includes airfare from Newark, JFK, 7 night w/breakfast and transfers and a few extras. Very similar deals in both hotels. I stayed at the Westin in December 2010 - no complaints. Is the Radisson any different? I am taking my husband this time - we love the beach and just want to chill.

I think the Radisson is a nicer hotel than The Westin. And I think it has a much better beachfront. But since you stayed there last year and liked it, not sure why you're asking the question?

And The Westin has gotten some really awful comments lately on tripadvisor. I've only stayed at The Radisson and enjoyed it quite a bit. Our rooms in the Aruba Tower were very nice, and I never had to wait long to get a palapa on the beach.

We stayed at the Radisson 2 months ago and there is no question we would stay there again. We found the best deal by booking thru MCM/Player's Choice tours.

Have stayed at the Westin 3 times and Radisson 4 times. If you can afford the Radisson go for it. We too have found the best pricing with MCM Tour/Players Choice http://www.aruba4u.com They offer breakfast buffet for two with their packages which is about a $50/day savings right there.

We just returned from the Raddison in Aruba. It was lovely, and after walking the beachfront, I agree that it seems to have the best beachfront of all the highrises. Our room was an ocenview, which was worth the extra money. If you are tempted to book a gardenview room, be aware that those seem to be the ones in the building still undergoing renovation. We booked through Costco.com, which was a very pleasant experience - no problems at all, and everything was as promised.

jentrav, when I was there the Curacao tower was closed for rennovations. Are you saying they now have some rooms open but the rennovations are still underway? If so I would not want to be in that building either.

P_M, One of the employees told me it was partially occupied. Frankly I don't know if that was the Curacao Tower. So I don't have anything official on that, but I'd certainly check before I booked.

To me, there is no question - go for the Radisson.
I just came back from my 4th time in Aruba and the Radisson and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The grounds are beautiful. As I was sitting at the bar one night with my husband having an after dinner drink - I said "this place puts my soul at peace". I love it there.

Across the street and down a couple of blocks are wonderful restaurants. There is a bus that stops in front of the hotel that will take you to town for $1.30 each way - a bargain!

Have a wonderful time!

I have stayed at The Westin a number of times and have always found it to be a lovely hotel. Wonderful "Heavenly beds" in comfortable rooms, good restaurants, fun pool, and warm, friendly service. This past November we did notice the beach front is now much narrower than it had been. Unfortunately, the more than usual rainy weather that Aruba experienced in Sept, had washed away much of the Westin's beach property.
I suggest the Radisson would be a better choice since it has more beachfront and it also is a lovely resort with more tropical atmosphere. You can check out other resorts, restaurants, activities, etc. at www.arubahotelsbeaches.com. Hope this helps with your decision.
