Belize or Grenada?

Belize or Grenada?

Has anyone been to the Spice Island resort in Grenada? Heard that Belize is
the new "hot spot". We're looking for
VERY natural tropical setting, sailing,
excellent snorkeling, in a low rise resort.
Any recommendations?
Grenada is head and shoulders above Belize in just about every catagory.

Louis, I've been to Belize. Why is Grenada better?

I've been to Grenada (and lots of other islands)--from what I hear of Belize, I would definately chose Belize. Grenada isn't one of my favorite places--for more info or specific questions, e-mail me!
I've been to Grenada and several other islands, and Grenada is one of my favorites, but I have never been to Belize. It is my impression, however, that they are quite different, and it is not a matter of one being better than the other, but which one has more of the features you like and fewer that you don't like. Spice Island is a first rate resort, and Grenada is a beautiful tropical island, mostly untouristy and rural, but if VERY natural means untouched rain forest, I'm sure Belize has much more.

To Jeanne: I am making my judgement after stopping at the following locations in Belize:
Belize City
Laughingbird Cay
Bird Cay
Placencia
Punta Gorda

I have not visited Roatan but I have visited Guanaja in Honduras which is a much nicer island.

To me the waters, scenery and climate are far superior in Grenada. To some the local vendors in Graneda may seem agressive, particularly to people from cruise ships. There is nothing in Belize comparable to the Spice Island resort.
Belize is however modest in price compared to most of the Caribbean and that makes it popular. Placentia is where most of the European backpackers go to dive. I however would chose Akumal over Belize. Belize is just an extention of the same coastline and the facilities are much more pleasant in Akumal.

I've been to both Grenada and Belize. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Personally, Grenada is one of my favorite islands in the Caribbean. I only saw one passable beach in Belize. Most beaches have thick sea grass so it's not like walking in the clear, warm waters of the Caribbean. I didn't think Belize was very clean...I guess if one is a diver, it can be good. I didn't go into the interior which I think would be better than going for the beaches. I have stayed at the Coyoba on Grand Anse beach in Grenada and also at the Tropicana which is a small family owned hotel near Georgetown but not on the beach. It's very easy to get a bus to the beach. You might also consider the Windjammer's Yankee Clipper which sails the Grenadines.
