Anegada - help!!!
We're looking into a week on Anegada (first time). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay - so far Anegada Reef Hotel and Neptune's Treasure look good. We just don't know whether we want to have to fend for ourselves for meals or have them included with our room. How much do meals run on the average? Thanks for any help!!!

Debbie-

Rent a car on Anegada?!? Please do your research before committing to an entire vacation there. Don't get me wrong. The island is one of the most beautiful places on the planet earth. But I want to make sure you understand what you're getting yourself into.

I have been a frequent visitor to the BVI, including anegada, over the past 20 years. The first time on a sailing charter with my family at 18 years old as a HS graduation gift.

Today, I have personal friends who work at Bamboo that come to visit me in the states for thier vacartions. In particular Kieth, who you'll find cleaning lobster on the dock around 2pm in preparation for the the beach bar-b-que.

My parents returned from the BVI just this past Wednesday. I encourage you to contact me for more information. If you decide not to and stay on the island anyway, tell Kieth "Richie from NY says happy new year yourself!" and you'll feast on the best lobster you've ever had. Also, please tell him to tell cousin Lucian "see you in D.C. this summer"!

My e-mail address is real. I'm one of the brave few. Please feel free to contact me and I'll give you all the info you need to plan a perfect vacay in the BVI.

good post Rich. Ditto. Reef Hotel, yes. Roads are terrible, but Mitch the cab driver can take you around. Only 100 people live on this coral reef. No trees, just scrub. Very weird place. Absolutely nothing to do but beach it.Met the hotel owner and her goat which kept getting on the airport runway, LOL. Nice lady.Consider flying to Tortola for at least a day- it's a neat flight. Tortola is green, lush and gorgeous. Take a cab to Cane Garden Bay- or ferry over to Virgin Gorda.Try a day sail with Joe and Julie on the Patouche. (www.patouche.com)More than 2 days on Anegada would probably make me crazy!
