I know there also a London, Ontario and I think there's a Paris, Ontario as well.

My husband's mother lives in Sydney, Australia. A few years back, we were talking with people about the cost of flying there from Toronto - someone asked us why we wouldn't just drive!

There are plenty of towns in Ontario with foreign counterparts. You could probably do a worldwide tour visiting them all!

London, Paris, Kingston (Jamaica), Delhi (India), Manilla (extra L from the Philippines), Perth (Australia), Athens (down the road from Perth), Berlin no longer exists but lives on in Kitchener's Oktoberfest, Boston, Stratford (with its own Avon River and bustling theatre scene), Woodstock and Cambridge.

I'm sure there are more, but these are just the one I've come across travelling around the province.

Sounds like the wayward couple did alright after all, according to the following article in the Halifax (Nova Scotia) newspaper:

Landing in Sydney this week was the best mistake they ever made, say two travelling tourists from London, England.
Raeoul Sebastian and Emma Nunn, both 19, said their week-long stay in the area, instead of their intended destination - Sydney, Australia - has been unforgettable.

"We'll never forget this; it's been one of those memories of a lifetime you'll always treasure," Mr. Sebastian said after the pair were made honorary citizens of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality Thursday night.

"This experience has increased my faith in human kindness."

After Mayor John Morgan presented the pair the first keys ever presented from
the city, he surprised them with a free return trip and accommodations for next
summer.

The trip is being funded by taxpayers through the municipality, Tourism Cape
Breton and Cape Breton County Economic Development Authority.

"I can't manage to speak," said Ms. Nunn. "I can't really believe this is happening to us."

Mayor Morgan said the two, who became instantly famous in the local, national
and international press this week, have become ambassadors for Cape Breton
and Sydney as a tourist destination.

"This couple has captured our attention over the last seven days and they have
been tremendous ambassadors," he said before a crowd of several hundred
during the opening minutes of a three-night civic Rock the Dock concert.

"They have been doing media interviews almost continuously . . . describing
Sydney and Cape Breton to the rest of the nation, America and Europe. . . . They have been very kind and very warm people, and we thank you on behalf of our community."

Both Mr. Morgan and Janet Connors, general manager of Tourism Cape Breton,
said they didn't think they were setting any dangerous precedent, agreeing they
were unique circumstances that will likely benefit the area.

"They've been fantastic ambassadors for Sydney and Cape Breton and the story .
. . also kept Sydney and Cape Breton in the (media) spotlight . . . for the last
seven days," he said.

The two tourists, who left for England Friday, will be returning to university and college in London this fall, but promise to return to Nova Scotia next summer.
