Getting the important stuff out of the way first, yes, Canada has kindereggs.

It's a toss up which city would be better; do you have enough time to spend a few days in one, drive to Otttawa (another great kid city) and then on to the third city?

For a bright, English-speaking kid, Montreal's fun because there is a different language there. For three or four days, there's just as much to do in either city.

In Monteal, make sure you go to the insectarium, (bug place) In Toronto, you can go to Niagara Falls for the day, and make sure you go to the Butterfly museum.

Food: Montreal, Swartz's deli on St. Laurent is an advernture he'll remember, and make sure you visit a bagel bakery.

Nickel's (diner style) has great kid's menu. There are many branches.

Toronto and Montreal: best kid-friendly food in a decent atmosphere is Swiss Chalet chicken restaurants.

Toronto: Rainforest Cafe at Yorkdale Shopping center (a bit of a drive, easy subway access) has surprisingly good food, and a great atmosphere for kids.

Toronto street hot dogs and french fries are usually excellent, and fun.

BAK

Thanks, Brian,

We have decided on Toronto. Hubby is interested in visiting their Chinatown. Maybe we will do Montreal next year.
So would you have any suggestions for restaurants. We would like to try 1 chinese, Italian, and Spanish. Any place for decent breakfast-maybe even serving non traditional breakfast foods.

Thanks again.

You made a wise choice. Toronto is a wonderful city. Full of diversity and interesting sites. We were there for 4 days and it wasn't nearly enough time to see everything we wanted. What we did see was great though, the CN Tower, we went to the Toronto Islands, Niagara Falls is amazing - we took a van from the hotel (Novotel - no frills, good service, in the middle of the city), we stopped at several towns in between, farmers market and a town famous for wine. We also went to Casa Loma, the zoo, and the Univ of Toronto. I don't remember when it is, but about 2 blocks from the Novotel was a market, neat, neat! Great bread, fresh flowers, veggies and good souveniors. I hope you have a great time, We had the most amazing time.
Also, we would be wondering around, just walking the streets to see the sights until late at night, never was even creeped out. I felt extremely safe in Toronto.

Hi Connie...you made a good choice, Toronto is a great city! My absolute favourite Chinese food place is called Swatow, and it's right in the heart of Chinatown. It's a very small, no frills kinda place, but the food is awesome and the prices are excellent. It's won several Best-of-Toronto awards. It's located at 309 Spadina Avenue, just north of Dundas. Some friends of mine came to visit last year and I took the kids (aged 8 and 12) there and they loved it. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions!
