US Canada border
The USA Canada border is scheduled to open on August 9 for non essential travel-tourists.
Travelers must be fully vaccinated - minimum 14 days prior to travel - and have a negative covid test prior to crossing the border.
Vaccines and covid test must be the same as the ones approved by the Canadian government.

And apply for a pass to get into the province you plan to visit. The pass must be approved BEFORE entry. Currently if you plan to visit Prince Edward Island they do not have a pass if coming from the USA…..New Brunswick Province has a pass you can apply for on line.

Travel from the United States
U.S. citizens and permanent residents in the United States, who are fully vaccinated with Canadian-authorized COVID-19 vaccines and enter Canada on or after August 9, 2021, will be eligible to apply for a PEI Pass (application available soon), which verifies that you are fully vaccinated and can visit PEI without isolating. US travelers will be tested upon entry to PEI.

Thank god.
The major concern is the mass moving around. It has zero to do with the imaginary lines across which you might move.
Were it politically possible to block-off everything in the U.S. Gulf Coast area and not let anyone move across a created barrier there, then the spread and potential spread of Covid would be markedly reduced in the near term.
Trudeau should wait until the middle of the Canadian winter before opening the border, provided Covid isn't showing the anticipated skyrocketing rates by then.
When humans create their own limitations they tend to do a much more effective job than governments tend to do on their behalf.
How much tourism does the Yukon get during the middle of winter anyway? About as many customers as Jack in the Box got immediately after their e-coli scare some 30 years ago (despite the food being more thoroughly cooked then than ever before).

That was 30 years ago? Sheesh, I'm getting old.

I thought this only affected the land borders with Canada and Mexico? Of course travel from Europe across a land border is quite difficult.
