Toronto Restaurants

We will be in Toronto for 3 days, September
15 through 18. Can you recommend two or three restaurants that would be good. We like almost all kinds of cuisine, especially
seafood, Italian, French, Chinese. We like
to avoid the typical tourist restaurants &
find some that the locals know are good and
that they frequent. We don't mind paying for
a really good meal.
Some restaurants that come to mind are:
Rodney's Oyster Bar, Sotto Sotto, Scaramouche Pasta Bar, Le Papillon. Japanese? Sushi on Bloor definitely.

Bob,
I would definately concurr wtih Bonnie's suggestions of Rodney's and Scaramouche but I am not a big fan of Soto Soto. For some other 'LOCAL' options, I would highly recommend Terroni on Queen, west of Bathurst St., for the best pizza you will ever eat in a very cool, laid back setting. Swatow on Spadina, south of Dundas St. has a very unique, szechuan like cuisine.(definately have the special house noodles and dumplings). For something more upscale I'd recommend Mistura on Davenport(Italian/Californian)and Harbour 60 for incredible steaks and sea food. Enjoy!!
Regards-Bram

To further clarify one point: there are actually 2 restaurants at "Scaramouche"-the Pasta Bar -great view of the city if you're lucky enough to get a table near a window (request ahead of time) with more casual Italian fare & the main, more expensive side of the restaurant which is called Scaramouche. They are located in the Benvenuto Apts., off Avenue Road and have valet parking. I would like to suggest one more place for you to visit: Panorama in the Manulife Centre. It's on the 52nd Floor and the view is spectacular. Go for drinks & aqppetizers, coffee & dessert, light dinner, whatever, but definitely stop in there. It's on Bloor at Bay near Yorkville.
