Toronto - Stratford and Shaw Festivals for KIDS

Hi. We are traveling to Toronto for our family vacation in August. We'd like to go to the Shaw Festival and the Stratford Festival. Has anyone seen plays at either festival which would be enjoyable to adults as well as kids - boys - 4 of them - ages 8 through 11? Is there any reason not to get the least expensive tickets in the house?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
- Andrea
Anne -Thanks for the tip on the Stratford Festival web-site. The web site was actually helpful- in fact, an adaptation of The Three Musketeers might be just the right thing for my lively four sons! (I tried sending you email, but it was returned - so I posted this reply.)
Have a great summer!
- Andrea
Hi, Andrea! Shaw usually has an afternoon play that would suffice but
unfortunately, I can't be more specific
(I will try to get more info. for you)
One thing you may want to consider with
4 active boys is the driving time from
To. to NOTL & return ( after having sat
through a play!). It takes about 1.5
to 2 hours, depending on the traffic,
one way! So, you may want to consider
an 'overnight'! And, if you will be there during Aug 4-7, remember that
in Ontario it's a holiday weekend so the
traffic will be horrendous on the QEW which is the major artery between To.
and NOTL. Hope this helps! Oh! There is a lovely little park/playground in NOTL where the kids can go 'to run off some steam' & when we used to go there a lot
there was even a wading pool! There's also a great ice cream shop nearby!
Thanks, Paula and Ann, for your help. We just got back from our week in Toronto, and had a really great time. Unfortunately, we did not get to much of what we had planned, including the Shaw and Stratford Festivals. But everyone wants to come back next year, so who knows?
Thanks, again.
Andrea
