Proposing in Niagara
My girlfriend and I will be in Niagara mid November, where I am planning to propose to her. Can anyone help me with the following questions?

1. We will be staying in the Renaissance Hotel - can anyone comment on it?

2. I would like to take my girlfriend to an "upscale" restaurant before/after proposing - can anyone suggest one?

3. Does anyone know of any "special/intimate" places where I can propose? I want to make it as memorable as possible!!

Thank you in advance for any help!!

I am not familar with the Canadian side, but the whole area is very pretty.I could suggest drive to Niagara on the lake-it is a very quaint Victorian town, that has a few upscale restarants. We had a beautiful champagne brunch a few years ago.
The American side is not upscale-it is a very industrial town, tourist area and not half as pretty as the more European Candian side, but the park and area around the American falls is very pretty. The bridal vail falls in that park is a nice outdoor spot-I am not sure what you want, but this would be an interesting spot to pop the question.
The falls are spectaular, lit up at night, that could give you another option.
I went to college and spent 4years and numerous reunions on the American side, and have toured the Canadian side and it is always very special to me.

Try proposing on the Maid of the Mist boat, at the foot of the falls. That'll be memorable, and years from now you can take kids, and eventually grandkids, on the same boat ride. It's the best tourist deal in Niagara Falls.

I can't comment on the hotel, except to say that generally Renaissance Hotels are nice places.

For romantic dinners, etc., head downriver about half an hour to Niagara on the lake, as advised by an earlier reply.

Check out www.vintageinns.com to find the best restaurants and hotels in the town. They're all owned by the same woman, who is very successful at making places elegant and comfortable at the same time. My recommendation is the Oban Inn for a memorable, romantic, meal. It'll be on the web site.

BAK

Congratulations! I like Brian's idea about proposing on the Maid of the Mist
but not in November!!! If it is
still running it wld. be cold, probably
wet, definitely damp.....not my idea of
romance! Have you considered staying
in Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) where
there are many fine hotels? That way you could have a beautifully romantic dinner
( make sure you ask for a cozy table
for 2 tucked away in a corner by the fire...Oban Inn has a nice spot!) You
cld. stay @ Queen's Landing (ask for King bed & room with fireplace & jacuzzi!), go to Oban for dinner &
drive out to Niagara Falls next day
to see the sights. Tell the grandchildren you were going to do it on the Maid of the Mist but it was too cold!! Whatever you do, enjoy!
