Marineland Report
From John the Reporter, age 11:
Marineland
Ten kids from Ascension summer day camp went to Marineland, which is in Niagara Falls, Canada.
We went because Wednesdays are our field trip days, and the counselors thought we would enjoy it.
They were right.
Marineland is an amusement park with rides and animals.
It works hard to attract visitors.
The day before I went I saw 28 commercials on tv and heard 12 on the radio
From Burlington, where we started, it was a one hour bus ride that was really boring.
How we decided what to do. We voted
Each group got a map that showed all the attractions, food places, washrooms, and where the animals are. The map was really useful
Of all the rides for big kids the Ski Screamer and Dragon Mountain. Sky Screamer is a three column ride that shoots you up into the air really, really fast. We stopped at the top and it seemed like about a minute. I could see Niagara Falls and the towers beside it. Then it dropped me to the ground really fast.
Dragon Mountain is a roller coaster with four loop-de-loops, and it partly indoors and mostly outdoors.
There are a lot for little kids, including a bear that spins around.
The water show I went to three times was with seals. They were ok but I preferred the rides.
The map says you can buy tickets for the Killer whale and Beluga whale shows, and I think this means they cost extra. Other than that, your day pass covers the seal show and the rides.
There is a show with dolphins, walrus and sea-lions that is part of the regular admission.
We went to the deer area. They were cool
Our departure was a bit late and a lot more complicated than when we left Burlington, but we got home in one piece.
Advice for parents: if your child likes Whales or dolphins and rides then hop in the car and go to Marineland.

Thanks for your report, John.
Parents on Fodors often ask what their kids will like to do, so I think it's great to have your view point on Marineland.
That's interesting about the number of commercials you heard.
