Eastern Canada road trip?

I'll be driving with 2 kids (ages 9 and 13) through Quebec City, Montreal, Ottowa and Toronto in a 9-day period, with plans to stop a day or two at each spot.
Is 2 days enough for each? How long is the drive between cities, and what's the speed limit in Canada on the highways (in mph,if possible)?
With SARS and mad cow disease in Toronto, are hotel rates going down? Should we worry?

I have not been to Que. City in some time- maybe about 2 1/2 hrs-help me out montrealers please.
From montreal to Ottawa is just a tad under 2 hrs(lets say 2),from Montreal to TO about 6 hrs. You should really be able to get "good" rates in all cities especially Toronto although I hope things get cleared up real fast. They've been having their share unfortunately. Would I be worried about SARS-well, I have to say that hopefully by the time you come(when?) that it will be over & done with. But I tend to worry about it at this moment in time.
order a free brochure on Quebec(montreal included)
www.bonjourquebec.com toll free number:
1-877-266-5687
go to www.go-montreal.com
for Ontario go to:
www.ontariotravel.net 1-800-668-2746
Toronto is a great city along with mine of course. 2 days in each-you'll have to really try to get in full days if you want to see it properly. But let others suggest.

I'm assuming that you're not sking if you should worry about hotel rates going down. You're asking about SARS and mad cow. While there are some cases of SARS in Toronto, there are no cases of mad cow disease!!! Please, let's not spread any rumours. The only cow that has been diagnosed was in Alberta - a long way from Toronto - and there's no evidence that it made its way into the food chain.

Re worrying about visiting Toronto - there was another post about that a while ago. I live in the city and I don't worry.

Hi San Diego Mom, SARS cases in Toronto are currently limited to a few local hospitals. To date, there hasn't been any spread of SARS within the general community. Other than the relatively small number of people who have been affected by SARS, Torontonians continue to go about their daily lives as normal - going to work/school, taking public transit, dining out, going to the theatre, sporting events, etc.

For accurate information regarding SARS in Toronto, the following website is an excellent resource:

www.city.toronto.on.ca/health/sars/index.htm

Toronto has alot to offer. I hope that you and your family will enjoy your visit!

Thanks everyone. Sorry to spread a false rumor about mad cows. Thanks for road information and hotels. I'll be staying with a friend in Montreal, but will need to find lodging in Ottowa, Toroto and Quebec City. What's a fair rate for those cities, anbody? Thank you for your help!

Hi San Diego Mom-Just to let you know you can recoup part of your hotel tax-keep your receipts & file the necessary refund form(hotels should have them).

If you call that number I gave you and or order your free brochure, they will have lots of accommodations listed;quebec city has B&B's, hotels & inns.Go to www.quebecregion.com plus the ones I previously listed.
Ottawa-call 1-800-465-1867 go to www.OttawaGetaways.ca
www.travelcanada.ca
bestwestern.com
Quebec City is having a summer festival from July 3-13
For information on refunds go to: www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca

For B&B's in Toronto you can call the Bed & Breakfast Metropolitan Registry of Toronto at 416-964-2566.
A fair rate-you can stay at budget hotels, B&B or expensive ones-there are all kinds of rates. Always ask for a special rate.
