Dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake
We will be an NOTL this weekend. All of our meals are taken care of except Saturday evening dinner, before the play. We have never been to NOTL. Any suggestions on good restaurants for a Saturday dinner? Thanks in advance.

hi just got back
the restaurants on notl are expensive and so so... 7 minutes away is St Catherines and there exists a restaurant called Spicy Thai which is reasonably priced and outstanding... a very special meal and experience...the food is awesome worth the extra 7 minute drive... if you must stay in notl go to the circular cafe on Queen street (don't remember what it is called but only circular building) and try the vegetarian pizza um um good. good luck if you have further questions about plays or anything just let me know
The Epicurean is a lovely cafeteria style restaurant. Inexpensive, but absolutely delicious soups, quiches and sandwiches. It is also licenced. It is right across Queen Street from the theatre. There are several very nice restaurants downtown. You do not need to drive to St. Catharines for dinner. Just walk along Queen Street and you will see several nice places to have dinner. My inlaws live in NOTL and we have had dinner or lunch at all the hotels. They are all lovely.

I second the Epicurean for something quick, casual and tasty. And the hotels are nice too.
The Chinese restaurant across the street from the Epicurean and just down the street a bit is also good, but I can't remember the name. A little more formal. Very spicy!

Although there are lots and lots of possibilities, they're all their busiest on Saturdays before the evening shows. Be sure to allow plenty of time. I'd recommend planning to dine at 5 for an 8PM show to avoid rushing. The Epicurean is excellent, but service can be very, very slow. It took us 20 minutes for two expressos with only three people ahead of us in line. The Shaw Festival Cafe is awesome. Your best bet is probably a place that accepts reservations. We loved the deck at the Queens Landing, where we had a spectacular meal on a Saturday night. There are two menus - one from the dining room and the other is a "bar" menu. Agree that dining in any of the hotels and inns would be wonderful.
