Dinner at The Wedgewood, Vancouver?

Our last stay at The Wedgewood about 10 years ago was memorable including a great dinner. Now when we return with two friends I'm wondering if we should eat "in" one night. I'm armed with tons of other dining suggestions in Vancouver, but for our first night with a three hour time change and our friends having departed Florida at 7 AM (that would be 4 AM Vancouver time) maybe we should do a quiet dinner at The Wedgewood. Is it still great, or just another hotel dining room?

I was there a few months ago and it's still a great place to eat - far above the average hotel dining room.

Oooh, Patrick - it's more than just another dining room. It's wonderful. I'd also recommend breakfast there, especially if they still have the orange French toast (I don't think they call it that exactly, but that's what it is) that they've listed on the menu for as long as I can remember. I once asked for the recipe. Breakfast aside, dinner is going to be a delight. Have a great time.

Ah breakfast is a given. Being diabetic I'm now forced to eat a full breakfast, something I never used to do especially since my partner doesn't like breakfast at all and doesn't even drink coffee. But traveling partners Paul and Susan both LOVE breakfast. I'm going to enjoy this trip with them!

Yes, I think the dining room at the Wedgewood sounds like a good choice for the first "late to us" night. I remember it as being very quiet and elegant -- a change from our usual picks of noisy and trendy places. Now to narrow down the second night!!

Patrick, it's been bugging me all day about that orange French toast. Maybe it's not French toast - it might just be toasted poppyseed bread but it's orange-flavoured and just incredible.
There are, as you're aware, a gazillion choices for dinner. My own personal favourite is the Raincity Grill.
When are you going to be there? We're in Victoria right now. I'll wave at you across the Georgia Strait.

Fret no more. Just looked at the Wedgewood website for breakfast menu:

"Orange poppy seed bread with honey apple butter."

That's the one! I didn't think of looking at the website. Please have an order of that for me - I won't get to Vancouver this trip, I don't think. We're moving out here in a couple of months and then we fully intend to get there for breakfast at some point.
Have a fantastic trip. The weather hasn't been great the past couple of days but this afternoon it's clearing up. Next time you come out here we'll invite you for tea - our house deal closes in early Sept. Enjoy!
