Cabot Trail Tours

We'll be in Cape Breton during the first week of June and are having a hard time finding tour companies that do the Cabot Trail. We've heard that there are many that go out of Baddeck and so we plan to overnight there. Can anyone recommend any day tours out of Baddeck that we might contact?

Hi Barbara, Do you have the NS tourism guide book? The number to call to get one is 1-800-565-0000. I can only find one tour company for the Cabot Trail, and it is Bannockburn Discovery Tour. Phone 1-888-577-4747 or email [email protected]. Hope this helps.

If you have your own car, I would recommend you do your own tour! It doesn't take long to do the Trail. You can do it in a day even with stops. Sometimes the local tourist association will provide a guide for a fee that will accompany you on your trip. They are able to provide commentary and lead you to spots you might otherwise miss.

Hope you enjoy Cape Breton!

Barbara: I echo Island Girl's comments. I used to own a summer house in Ingonish Beach, which is on the Cabot Trail. You will enjoy the Trail so much more if you drive yourself. Car rentals are available in Sydney, Halifax, and maybe Baddeck. There is some mountain driving, but the roads are well maintained, and it is safe. The Trail has hundreds of neat stops for viewing, crafting, hiking, beach combing, and eating, and I think it would be a shame to see just a fraction of it from a tour bus. I think this is why pretty well everyone does it on their own. I think most of the tours that go around the trail come from Montreal, Toronto, and the U.S., and it is part of a package that incudes other Maritime destinations.

Thanks all for your suggestions. We're trying not to have to drive so went ahead and booked with Bannockburn. They seem to be most accommodating. Did receive a copy of the Doers and Dreamers Guide. What a guide!
