Banff vs. Cape Breton

I have already been to Banff before and absolutely love it. We have wonderful hotel rates for banff this summer but now some in the party are talking of changing it to Cape Breton since it would be different.<BR>Is it too late to book affordable hotels for Cape Breton this summer (say early to mid June)? I have NO IDEA where to look for hotels on Cape Breton - any help? Banff is easy being a big tourist town and plenty of sites for hotel info.<BR>Is Cape Breton worth changing affordable Banff plans????<BR>Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!!!

While Banff and Cape Breton are both Beautiful, they are completely different. Banff has the mountains but Cape Breton has the ocean. Banff will have more up-scale hotels but Cape Breton is more friendly and "homey". I think it really depends on what your group likes to do and what your expectations are. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to help. I will check back tomorrow and see if you have posted.

Thanks! Where do I look to book accomodations for Cape Breton? Are there towns I should search on the web that are best to stay in?<BR>Is Gaspe Pen. as spectacular as Cape Breton?<BR>Thanks again!

Try these sites first ... <BR><BR>http://www.capebretonet.com/index.html<BR>http://explore.gov.ns.ca/<BR>http://www.cbisland.com/index.php<BR>http://highlander.cbnet.ns.ca/cbnet/tourism/tourism.html<BR><BR>Much of the tourism info is sorted by "Trail". Although there are (I think) 4 trails in Cape Breton, the two I remember right now are the Cabot Trail and the Brasd'or Lakes Scenic Trail. Ingonish and Baddeck are my favourite spots and probably will have the most choices in accommodations outside of the city of Sydney.<BR><BR>Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Gaspe area so I certainly wouldn't want to give advice!! But, if there's anything else about Cape Breton I can help with, please feel free to ask.<BR>

Cape Breton and Banff are both wonderfull places. The Cabot Trail and the Icefields Parkway are probably the two most spectacular driving routes in Canada. You should have no trouble with accomodations now. We once arrived at the Information Centre across the causway and they were (just barely) able to fix us up with accomodation for the next two nights. That was in early August. Next time we would book ahead. Louisburg is a must see. Get the "Doers and Dreamers" guide from the government touism people.
