8 hour layover in Sydney - please advise on what we can do! thanks!

Hi,
My partner and I have an 8 hour layover to Sydney from New Zealand and would like some help on what we can do in this really short time. The flight lands at 8.50am on a Saturday and departs at 4.25pm.

We would love to do some sightseeing (e.g. opera house etc.) and try some good food, but we're not a fan of museums. We wont even mind just chilling for a picnic where there's a really nice view.

Please advise what we can do. Thanks a million!!!

Catch the train to circular quay and explore the foreshore (harbour bridge, opera house etc) and rocks area. Have a glass of wine at museum of contemporary art or a nearby bar.

Are you arriving in Sydney from another country? If so, you may not have much time, maybe 2-3 hours. With that, your best bet would be to do what Dreamon suggested. Perhaps you can have lunch at one of the restaurants around Circular Quay or do one of the lunch cruises around Sydney Harbour. A drink at the Opera Bar is also nice.

I agree with dreamon and the 4th floor cafe at the museum of contemporary art (MCA) is great and has perfect views of the harbour, harbour bridge and Opera House. Try the popcorn prawns - delicious!

Take a train from the airport to Central, then to Circular Quay, and then a ferry to Manly. It takes less than an hour, and you will see the most beautiful parts of the city on a nice boat trip and fit in a nice meal on the Corso. Otherwise, just eat at the Quay. Plenty of good places, even the Opera House. Easily done in the time you have available. The information people at the airport will help with advice.
