I will be in New York in May so can't attend if that ends up being the popular vote. However, the chances of us finding a date that suits everyone are very slim!!

I would love to consider making trip #7 to OZ at the same time as a GTG. Sydney, Cairns... either one would be fine. Right now May is wide open.

I've been to many many GTGs in the US (Boston and Honolulu) and in Thailand, but never in Australia. The idea sounds very appealing to me.

I'll top this again - it really does look like Cairns is a very popular choice. I'd like to settle it so we can all make our plans and prepare well in advance.

Are you all happy then with Cairns May 28th/29th 2011. We can do details down the track as to where etc but I would like to lock it in and we can bring this up every couple months to remind everyone.

I've just noted it on my calendar (but alas, in pencil, so it isn't yet a sure thing). I'll try to check back here every once in a while to see what is happening with plans. You can usually 'find me' on the Asia forums as I frequent Bangkok several times each year.

I wont be able to make it to Cairns in May but I recommend Trinity Beach.. we had a fabulous vacation there 3 years ago... perfect spot

With regret I do not think I shall not be able to make it as I am off to Bali on 7 June for a week for a conference and then to Europe for 5 weeks in late June and July .So I just cannot take more holiday time and ought to be watching the budget. But of course if really cheap air fares / points enable a couple of days I have the excuse to visit friends in Palm Cove and stay with them .

Virgin have a sale on at present - closes midnight 6th January - cheap fares Sydney to Cairns $119 one way.
I'm probably going to book mine whilst this fare is on as the sale travel dates includes our GTG!

But there are cheap fares all over Oz so everyone may want to check it out. Sale ends midnight 6th!!!
