Thanks Stormbird! I'll investigate.

Even better fares on Virgin now for Cairns in May. from $109 one way from Sydney.

I've booked :)

cathies Jan 27th, 2011 02:02 AM

:( So sad I can't be there.

toni Feb 3rd, 2011 09:21 PM

I havent dropped in for ages and just saw this post unfortunately. I cant make it to Cairns but would anyone be up for a "mini Sydney GTG" for those who couldnt make it up there??

Libretto Feb 4th, 2011 03:50 AM

Gosh, I'd love to come...but have been forbidden to fly (the curse of vertigo is back, yuk) have a wonderful time!

greynomad Feb 12th, 2011 06:34 PM

I would like to make this my first GTG but suggest that if it is in June, July or August, we head north. I'm good for May too. In fact, with enough notice, I should be ok for any arrangement made.

Susan7 Feb 12th, 2011 06:57 PM

The date is already set Greynomad, it's 28 May.

Bokhara2 Feb 12th, 2011 09:19 PM

Hey Libretto,

Couple of suggestions to get you to Cairns for May 28th:

1. Order a bottle of Krug or whatever libation will do the trick before take off and drown the vertigo.

2. Come up here & we'll do a "Thelma & Louise" (without the cliff) in my cousin's old Holden ute.

None of this coastal stuff - we'll take the bush track up through Moree, Goondiwindi, Emerald, Clermont ... stop off here & there to see friends & rellies. Probably take us a week & we'll have a collection of bush yarns, a dozen emu eggs & some saltbush lamb for the GTG.

Wouldn't that be a hoot?

(without the cliff)

Which reminds me - unfortunately, this year that's probably the case! Fairly certain the date or the rates are not going to fit with current events, but I wish everyone a great, if slightly fuzzy in retrospect, time.

With regards
Cliff

I said early on if the GTG was in Cairns I would run a tour of the Atherton Tablelands for Fodorites at cost. I have now taken a part time job which would preclude that being on the Friday. If it was to be the Sunday I would have to abstain from drink on the Saturday as a zero blood alcohol limit is needed if there are enough for a bus. So the questions are:-

1. Is anybody interested in a day tour of the Atherton Tablelands?
2. Would they be able to do it on the Monday or is Sunday prefered?

Well, I've been dreading having to post this for about 3 weeks now.

I CAN'T MAKE THE GTG! I'm quite a bit gutted. I started a new job three weeks ago and the company I now work for conduct various workshop courses throughout the year. The next course on the Gold Coast is the same weekend as our GTG and I am expected to go to the workshops to see how they run etc and to help running the event, of course.

I really like the job and have fitted in very well so that's all good but of course, as you know, I got the GTG ball rolling and now I can't attend.

I hope you all understand but hope you all have a beautiful, wonderful GTG in Cairns.

Of course, I'm not going anywhere so will still be around on Fodors but maybe just not as often. I am working full time which I haven't done for a while and travelling a bit so I get a wee bit pooped by the end of the week.

Things may change but I doubt it so please all have a wonderful time together and hopefully I'll be able to make the one after!

Oh, stormbird. That is so unfortunate :( . I am disappointed I can't go because of school, but that is not as upsetting as for you.
Hope your job is going to be all you expect.
Dot

G'day Alan

I'm interested and free either day.

In fact, apart from organising to get to Cairns, I have no plans at all.

AlanJG Mar 8th, 2011 05:04 PM

Margo,
It looks like it is just you and me so we'll do the trip in my car.
Pat,
You and I should start talking about the evening.

JohnFitz Mar 9th, 2011 05:09 PM

Jetstar just launched , on net 5 minutes ago , cheap north qld fares from $139 one way . I still can't make it but if I could these look like they may suit .

pat_woolford Mar 9th, 2011 08:48 PM

We should indeed Alan - what's a good time to ring you?

AlanJG Mar 12th, 2011 08:56 PM

Please use other thread from now on.
Thanks,
Alan
