florida in january for our 62nd birthdays....10 days near st tropez, france followed by the same in tuscany, italy with a stop in cinq terre, italy for karen in april/may....

then the fall trip in november and december: nov 15-dec 20.....

Lyndie-"Old" gpanda? I'm running a marathon in 3 days. I'll be in BKK 12/26-12/28 and 1/5-1/6. I'm staying at the ROS.

I'm celebrating my 60th in about a week and will go to St Pete Beach (by myself---hurray!!!) right afterwards. It's just a 4-night stay, but I always enjoy it so much. If you have not yet read the thread on the Europe forum about traveling ALONE you really should! It's a hoot!

We haven't decided where to stay yet. Will let you know when we finalize plans.

We have found the hotel prices high, but I guess we are going during high season. Haven't found any promotions or deals.

I have printed out loads of forum material to read on our car trip that starts some time this morning. Will take a wireless computer, which is new to us, and hope I can do some things online during the evenings.

interesting that you find the hotel prices high....i think just the opposite...bangkok has some of the lowest hotel prices in the world for quality accomodations....have you been to europe lately??

Yeah, prices in Paris, for example, are ridiculous. My two-star hotel is 133 euros...no breakfast included, no fridge in the room, and no restaurant on the premises. Happy Travels!

Thanks Laurieco and Carol.Yes, we do have a system in which you can delay it for 90 days. The problem is, I've kind of been delaying it for 30 years...but sh!...don't tell anyone.Smiles. I called the jury number and listened to the recording and entered my jury number and then filled out the form sent me.I'll mail the form in today. I'm to be available on Nov 28th...plus 4 days after that. I'll have to call everyday for a five day period, starting Nov 28th, to see if I actually have to come in. So, I'll have to wait until ONE WEEK before my departure date to see whether or not I'm in the clear of having to serve. I've been having this nighmare ever since I bought the ticket, back in April, for this December trip.I just felt that I would get called. A friend, who works with me, got hit with a jury summons yesterday,too. He's not a happy camper either. Happy Travels!

Guenmai- a jury story. I got called last year. I was sure I would be excluded from the panel because I've done some criminal defense (note to Bob: Don't worry about a thing). I was somehow selected for the jury. I thought that the prosecutor allowed me on the panel because his case was so good that I would convince the other jurors that reasonable doubt was non-existent. I was completely wrong. The prosecution's case was so bad that there was no possible way any jury would convict. The prosector obviously didn't care about a commie, liberal defense attorney. He had bigger problems. In Massachusetts, you can also request a one time postponement of your service. Good Luck.

So, Peter, are you staying at the Marriott from 21-23 and then the Oriental from 24-26? That will be perfect because the Centre Point Silom isn't far from either of them!

Susan, I am sure you will be a bit jet lagged when you arrive but if you are up to it, it would be fun to meet up! We are staying at Centre Point Silom in a nice 1 bedroom apartment right on the sky train for $79, inclusive of tax, vat and breakfast! If that is too much you might check into a funky appearing place called Reflections.

My daughter and I (from the mother-daughter conundrum thread) are also booked at Centre Point for Feb 6-11 (and probably the 23rd and 24th, as well, although we haven't made the booking yet for the end of the trip).
