A great way to start the new year; in anticipation of all the wonderful trips to come.
I'm off to Guatemala in March, and can barely contain my excitement about returning to South Africa in September. I had originally planned a return to Burma, but the dates just didn't work out. Happy New Year everyone! |
Good thread to start off the new year, bc.
Get the travel juices going. Here's hoping for all the best for you in April... We are off to Phuket/India/Bali/Borobudur in Feb/Mar. Definitely, New York (US Open) in Aug/Sep. Still thinking maybe Ireland/Wales in June. No Calif in July Happy and peaceful New Year to all. Much depends upon how my wife's knee recuperates. |
Looking to do Peru/Machu Picchu in late May, Botswana in July.
Still thinking.... |
Took a day trip from NH to Boston and Cambridge for a lobster lunch. No Bob. No Panda. Are you hibernating?
|
Happy New Year, everyone! I'm back from the Latin American board...guiltridden that I haven't yet done trip reports about the Galapagos (June) or Chile (November).
As usual, we are disorganized about our travel plans, hoping to figure out how to use our Amex points. Thinking about a Tanzanian safari in June, but Turkey, Iceland and Borneo are also possibilities. |
Untrodden southern Tanzania im Aug/Sept.
But since I am about to aquire 100,000 free miles on BA with my new Chase credit card, I have to decide between a Bangkok/Pandaw river cruise in Burma, or Istanbul/sailing the Turkish coast on a gulet. Or maybe India. |
All wonderful options Leslie!
|
In 2009 we went to Bali (woohoo!) and for 2010 we are starting off the New Year in Vietnam, with plans to go to Japan in April. Hooray!
|
indiana---last month i went to NH to get lobster...where were you?
|
In India . . . hah!
We went to Anthony's Pier 4 and were the only customers. Downtown Boston was dead, dead, dead . . . but the lobster was delicious. |
pier 4 is on its way out i think....its had a good ride for 40+ years
i prefer lobster at home, fresh out of the water... or at chauncey creek in kittery maine on the floating dock...summers only |
Thailand (on Saturday), Orlando in March(to see friends), hopefully Russia this summer, and maybe Mexico for Christmas.
@ BostonHarbor - I did Peru/Macchu Picchu in May 2004. A great time to go as rainy season was over and tourist season was just starting, so it wasn't overcrowded yet and everything was so green because of the rains. I suggest taking something for the altitude (I started taking Diamox and took two days in Cusco to adjust before I did the climb). @ rhkkmk : chauncey creek!!! shhhhhh. Don't give the secret away!!!!!!! |
Femi, the options these days come down to going places that may be more difficult in our dotage in a few years, as well as making the most out of our miles in business class on long trips.
So we're tending to book the more arduous, long-haul trips soonest. (Well, OK, sailing around on a Turkish gulet is not very arduous!) Have a great time in South Africa. |
rhkkmk: Good tip. I'll see if we can find it next year. We go to NH over each Labor Day for a week.
|
Fun filled year is our plans. Retiring in May 2010. It starts with:
Feb: San Francisco March: Hawaii April: Las Vegas May: Retiring and driving to Alaska for 3 months Dec/Jan 2011: Planning a trip to Thailand |
rhkkmk, Bob, how long and where are you going go in S Korea? I think you told me you had been before. I am researching about it now and Seoul seems like such a shopping mecca. Linda is counting on you for a live or some kind of report. You could use a Panda on this trip for the blocking and tackling, lol
Aloha! |
or just to smack around every once in a while ;)
|
March/April: Hong Kong and Taiwan (with kids)
July: Boundary Waters (with kids) August: Yellowstone (with kids) September: Venice or Norway (NO kids) October: NYC and(?) Mt. Rushmore (with kids) Everything else will be opportunistic. Would love a long weekend in San Diego to take the kids to the Zoo and Wild Animal Park and Legoland (our boys are 6,6 and7) but nothing planned yet. Will see if DH work travel spurs us on there. |
