Visa for China

i have a Chinese Visa issued for 10 years I have 6 years remaining, however, the visa is attached to my old passport from 2 years ago. I would like to know if this will present a problem traveling with 2 passports with the visa on the expired one? Thank you for your help.

Yes, this is how it works. You bring you old passport with the visa in it.

China is really pretty generous about this. I've obtained visas for other countries that expired the minute my passport did.

Out of interest, a ten year visa should last for 10 years, ie. until the expiry date. What happens if the rules change dramatically, and the entry requirement change so much that the visa becomes in effect invalid. Tit-for-tat reciprocity, diplomatic fallings-out, and stuff like that.

Then you have no visa. But never seen such a thing but theoretically it can happen. It would probably need more than diplomatics fallings-out.

But this situation discussed here is only available to Americans. While Canadians can also get a 10-year visa, it will actually never exceed the remaining duration of the passport. So the visa is for up to 10 years in this case.
