Vietnam help
I'm leaving on a 3 week trip to Vietnam & Ankgor. If I primarily stay in 2-3 star hotels, do I need to bring my own mosquito net? I can't tell from the hotel details. If hotel has a/c, am I ok without a net?
Any other packing tips or hotel/tour recommendations would be greatly appreciated as this my 1st trip to Asia, and I'm a little nervous!

I was originally planning to take a mosquito net with me to Vietnam (leave 11/29). Changed my mind when I found a mosquito repellent that is 100% DEET. Seems like a good bet as I'm restricting myself to carryon only. No checked bags.

i think it depends on where you are going/staying in vietnam. in northern vietnam we only saw one mosquito in our weeks stay that just ended today.
ankor wat last year we did see mosquitos and there is a malarial risk so stay in nicer hotels with a/c and use bug spray when at the temples

No , i think you dont need to take those stuuffs to Viet Nam . There re bucnhs of hotels here ( oh i live in Viet Nam )they all have ac , everything re all clean ,and if you want to save money , you should get to mini hotel , it's cheap but still good . If you re going togo to Ho Chi Minh city , you can find some good and cheap places at Pham Ngu Lao area ( around 20 bucks for a day ).There re bucnhs of travellers there .
Anywayz if you want to know more , just ask and i'll try to help .
And WELCOME TO MY COUNTRY =]

I have never had problems with mosquitos in either Vietnam or Cambodia. Good bug repellent is always a safe precaution along with possibly spraying your clothes with Permetherin, which can be purchased in most outdoor type stores. I consult with a travel medicine doctor and he's the one who suggested spraying my clothes. Has worked like a charm every time all over the world. Asia is great and you will absolutely love both VN and Cambodia. Have a great trip!
