Pls suggest activities / places of interest for a 5 yr old
We are travelling for 2 weeks within Vietnam, covering Hanoi, hoi an / hue, Ho chi min city, con dao. Though we have built enough beach time for my daughter both at hoi an and of course at con dao, would appreciate suggestions on what activities might excite her.

My only suggestion is to choose hotels that have swimming pools. The availability of a place for a child to cool off and splash can make many things more tolerable.
The Ethnographic Museum In Hanoi may be of interest to your daughter as they have houses of various ethnic groups constructed on the grounds. It's a very "hands on" exhibit which may appeal to her.

We did lantern making that all three of my kids enjoyed in Hoi An. We also enjoyed a family trip to the food market followed by a cooking class. Even though my youngest was 5 at the time, they gave her lots of things to do and she had fun.
And yes, the pool was a necessity in every place we stayed.

The swan boats on the perfume river in Hue spring to mind. Also, the Vietnamese love kids so if you are staying in guesthouses, rather than big hotels, the host family are sure to have kids and I am sure would welcome the interaction with children from overseas.

Thank you for your responses. She is 5 year old, I think she would enjoy lantern making. She might enjoy a flame less cooking class as well. And maybe puppet theatre if I explain the story to her. Will check swan boats (no idea what that is).
We do have pools in all the hotels we have booked (alas no homestay).
Also 23rd June is her birthday and we are in Ho chi min city that day. Any ideas on how to make it special for her?
Thanks

Maybe http://www.damsenwaterpark.com.vn/en/ can't attest to the safety standards, but the water will be a welcom relief for all of you!
