I'm coming late to your TR but really enjoyed it. We are planning a trip this spring. Do you have the contact info for the private driver that you used? much appreciated.
-any special hotels on your trip you would recommend?
- until your report, I thought we might omit Taitung and go directly from Hualien to Kaohsiung, but it sounds like you really liked Taiting and it is worth the detour?
-I might cut out Taichung- thoughts? and replace it with Alishan for a nature experience in the cherry blossom season. Thoughts?

thanks again!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

We loved Taitung. It’s very different than everywhere else and worth the detour. Alishan during cherry blossoms I bet is beautiful. I skipped Alishan as the logistics just seemed too complicated. Going in Oct it would just be forest and I’m not find if hiking in forests. It would provide you with a different experience than everywhere else, so skip in Taichung for it makes sense.

We really enjoyed our time at Silks in Kaohsiung. It’s a lovely hotel with excellent service. We did manage to get a good rate.

i need to look to see if at still have the info on our driver. Are you familiar with a nicks blog on Taiwan? Taiwan Travel,Planning, if not, check it out. Tons of good info. Thats where I got him.
