You're not coming Hanuman?
|
On the love boat? Possible but I don't normally make plans that far ahead. I am still juggling the destination for our trip in 3 week's time - Australia or Kenya? Looks 90% certain it's Australia.
|
dogster.... you lecture me on keeping to topic.....let me look back at some of your early musings....
|
lol lol lol - Hoist, once more, on my own petard.
|
Bravo dogster, well said.
we are thinking about it so you could say we are a 3-4 on all cruises maybe a 5 on the Ganges so will just sit on the sidelines and see what develops..... rhkkmk for you,lol http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/h...%20petard.html Aloha! |
I'm interested but I HATE the idea of cruises with a passion. Have been lurking because I'm interested in the destinations, though those are getting more and more obscure. Plus I too couldn't plan that far ahead. And I don't do groups either, but it's a good read....
|
WElcome gertie3751. You sound perfect, hate cruises and groups. That pretty much describes all of us. We move forward nenetheless.
|
For just a moment, could you possibly picture Bob and Gpanda on the <i>SAME</i> cruise??? I could picture Bob trying to talk Gpanda into water-skiing, which he'd later refer to as "trolling for sharks". Then picture Gpanda trying to goad Bob into trying a new dish at dinner...turns out to be live jellyfish. Yeah, this sounds like "The Love Boat" alright...
BC |
HT, how can you possibly miss this? Are you and Linda coming along? You too, BC.
|
Oh, Kathie, honey, I am out of a job right now, and my special-needs brother is living with me. I think for a little while any travel I do will be confined to the USA. (As soon as I get a new job I'm going to get a new car, even if I end up leasing it, and will start saving for a vacation!)
BC |
Sorry, BC, I had forgotten you are out of work.
|
No harm, no foul, and it was nice to have been included in planning. :)
BC |
BC,
Hope things will improve for you soon and I look forward to seeing you in Thailand in the near future! |
Kathie,
I feel the same way as you but it all depends on the where, the when and Linda's schedule for next year, which hasn't been written yet. Would be a fun and leisurely way for us to get to see a slice of India or wherever. Aloha! |
BC is a confirmed Europhile. Yuck! Of course, she has discovered that we are much more pleasant on the Asia forum than they are on the Europe forum. It only stands to reason that we would be much more fun on a cruise than the Europe people.
|
Gpanda, I had not posted on the European Forum in donkey's years, but went over there a month or two ago and was honestly <i>HORRIFIED</i> to see a new poster getting lambasted by some of "the regulars" over there, over all things, daring to misspell the name of an Italian town. When called out on their rude behaviour, they rationalized it with responses like "she should know where she's going and how to spell it properly" to "I merely have respect for language and proper spelling". That's enough to put me off that forum for the remainder of my natural life!
Although there is always banter between the likes of you and his Bobness, and ribbing about baseball between Craig, Laurieco and your Red Sox-obsessed self, I know it's all done with good intent, which is much more than I can say about the European Forum, where a certain degree of condescending, snooty attitudes appear to rule. Hanuman, I thank you very much for your kind and welcoming shout-out. I'd really love to visit BKK and Phuket and having seen the photos taken by Bob and Karen from their trip with Andy and Beth, I think I'd like Krabi, too. I love the fact I do always feel very welcome here on the Asia Forum! Thank you all, BC |
BC,
I am so glad to read above that you are thinking (long-term) about going to Thailand when these lean economic times are behind you. During the planning and dreaming phase, you will obviously learn a great deal about Thai culture here but no- or low-cost immersion therapy in the form of books, films, and food helps preparation as well. I wonder if you also might like to check out the film, THE OVERTURE. Here in Massachusetts, it is available for free through the public inter-library loan system. Netflix also carries it if anyone has an account with them. Others may make different recommendations, but I thought that this film was a charmer. http://www.kino.com/theoverture/ http://www.kino.com/theatrical/th_item.php?film_id=778 |
Bookchick I think you may be right about the Europe forum. Although by no means a new poster, I had a nasty few minutes there recently. My experiences on this forum before and after my India/Vietnam trip have caused me many a chuckle. So as as a non-cruise, non-group person, the Love Boat is just about right for me.
|
india or burma, in that order. anytime when its cool is good. always wanted to go to india. perfect opp., and with friends, and the dogster too.
close your eyes, the dogster on the podium, with a bamboo pole in his right hand, a piece of cloth at the end, with the letter f in red, waving frantically, and in a baritone voice yelling, "hai, mina-san, kochi desu". |
I already have an idea for T-shirts so will eventually need all the passengers sizes.
Looks like it's about evenly divided between India and Burma so far. Karanosoke, what's the level of your interest from 1 to 10 in India and Burma? I expect someone will hgave to take the bull by the horn's and layout specific itineraries, dates, etc, for the next step. And who will that lucky person be? |
