Thank you to all of you- moderators and message boarders alike

I just want to take a moment to say thanks to the Moderators and participants alike within this forum who so nicely (and I stress nicely) contribute information in a polite, friendly manner. I recently stopped logging on to another board (Caribbean based) as the lack of moderation resulted in a message board with little helpful info and many rude responses to a huge number of comments made about non-travel topics. Thankfully, this board remains what it is meant to be and I am grateful to all of you for keeping it that way. Happy Holidays to all!

thank you! We are always, always polite here, and never veer away from travel topics.

So what did you all think about the Broncos yesterday?

Actually, there are no moderators here, so if you want civility, stay away from the Europe board.

Also, for non-travel topics, there is the 'Fodorite Lounge', although some people have not yet found it.

As someone who is a poster on a number of the forums here, I will have to agree 100% with the Asia forum being very civil and mostly on topic. This is my favorite place to be. And thank you cookiew for the nice compliment to our friendly Asia fodors group.

Really no moderators?? Amazing since I have to see any offcolor posts, announcements about miracle products that will do whatever to your whatever like I've seen on another board that has moderators. The lounge area is a great idea, something I suggested to the other board I quit logging onto recently due to the huge number of unrelated to Caribbean travel posts it had. But my idea was dismissed! I read SlowTravelTalk for European posts and find it intensely civilized. I was told that Talesofasia was good for a message board but that was really in need of moderation I felt, alot of bad taste posts and some hostility.
Ah well, I'm happy here but sorry Arizona, I don't watch sports (even though my uncle was once a part owner of the Broncs) and if I did ,it had better be the Patriots because that's where I live, in their home stadium town! I actually fell asleep during the last game of the Red Sox World Series!!

Actually, the really nasty posts (uncommon) are removed by some unknown power at Fodors, although sometimes a seemimingly innocuous post falls into the black hole.

Also, sometimes the regular posters will spot an ad and report it to [email protected]. In my experience, the off-color posts and ads are quite rare.

Don't worry cookiew, I willbe glad to carry the banner for both the Red Sox and the Patriots. Before the RS got to the World Series, I posted a request on this board for ant Asia travellers visiting temples to ask the Eastern dieties to intercede on our behalf. We WON. Apparently, the long-mumbled prayers to western dieties never worked.

Gpanda- this is out of context but if the others will indulge me- during one of the games, a friend of ours got down on his knees and prayed that the RS win, yelling "12 years of Catholic School has to mean something"- they won so the Western dieties listen on occasion!
