Saigon - Need advice

Would appreciate any information about: 1. How to contact and hire a full-time reliable, knowledgeable, english-speaking guide to help my wife and me for 3-4 days of independednt travel just in the Saigon area. 2. An excellent hotel in Saigon - we're not on a budget. 3. Any tips on air travel. 4. The best time of year for good weather in Saigon. 5. Good websites on Vietnam/Saigon. Many thanks for your help.

There are many excellent hotels in Saigon. One of the best is New World Hotel. When i stay in Saigon i always stay at Hanoi Hotel
who is a very good and small hotel. The
v.i.p.room cost 50us dollar. The adress
is 3 trinh van can st.dist 1.
Tel:8210799-8213456. Fax (84.8)8213535
They have a very nice and helpfull staff. There are many airlines who fly
to Vietnam,i always fly with Thai or
Singapore airlines. About the weather
in Saigon try cnn.wheather on the inter
net.Things i think you and your wife
should see when you are in Saigon is
1. The weather varies depending on when you will be traveling. Expect intermittent showers but generally clear to cloudy days when I was there in August-Sept. The hotels are probably a good source for guides and ideas. While you're there, get a massage and haircut. It's cheap and the service is generally good. I have family there so if you have any questions that I can't answer I will ask them.

We were in Vietnam last October(October through December are supposed to be the coolest time of the year but it still was unbelievably hot) and I can not say enough good things about Ann's Tourist Company. Tony, the son of Ann, was sent to the USA on one of the last planes out of Vietnam at the end of the war; he grew up in California. His mother lost track of him but found him through one of her customers and he returned home. The best thing about Tony is that he speaks English well and will help you plan your trip everywhere in Vietnam. He supplied us with air conditioned cars and drivers as well as English-speaking guides when needed all through the country. Our favorite place was Hue. Tony will also arrange all of your air travel.

Ann Tours e-mail is [email protected].

We did not want to see any of the War tourist things so Tony helped us creat our own tours. You'll be very happy working with him.

We stayed at the Caravelle Hotel in Saigon which had just been redone and had just reopened. It was probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in and you need a good hotel in Saigon.
