Saigon Guide
Seeking suggestions for a guide, English spoken, for a couple of days in Saigon.
We had a terrific young woman a few years ago, but emails to her go unanswered. Surely she is CEO of a thriving company by now.
We will be accompanied by two asia newbies so basic Saigon experiences will be most welcome.
Availability of a van for transport would also be welcome.
Thanks
Bob

Caveat: dated info
We had a very good experience arranging private day tours through Exotissimo in Saigon, Hue and Hanoi/environs. Because the tours were for my teen-aged children and me, and because we speak no Vietnamese, we splurged on this high-end company to get us oriented in each city, then went out on our own on subsequent days and trips.
Alas, those visits were in 2006 and 2008 so this information is too old to be useful. I looked online and see that reviews of them are bimodal -- either 5 star or 1 star. People who are very happy and very unhappy are the ones who tend to fill out surveys, I gather. Not sure what to think about current levels of service.
Hoping others will continue to weigh in with more current reccomendations.

We used this fellow last year and he was excellent. He used to teach English there actually. I would take him again in a heartbeat!

If I recall - You missed hue last time and maybe Hoi An due to inclement weather. Try to get there this time - we enjoyed both - perhaps hue even more. IMO the north was more interesting anyway. Have a great time. I'm envious...would love to get back to Vietnam. Our next trip is to the Balkans for a month - just booked tickets.

We used Hanoi Kids in November, need to book 2 months in advance. Very young college student, excellent English and impressed us with her knowledge of Vietnam history and culture, and very familiar with Hanoi sights and sites. We toured with her in local cabs she hailed, very pleasant.
