Does hotels in Asia (HKG, BKK, SGN) make you show them your passport everytime you enter their hotel?
Thinking about booking Lebua @ The State Tower in Bangkok. Rooms are very spacious (about 700sq.ft)..enough to fit 4 of us in one room comortably.
Per online, it only states room is for 2 people BUT can we 'get away' with 4 people in one room w/o getting into trouble?
any comments/tips would be great.
btw, just booked airfare to asia! its official! very excited.

Yes, each of you in the room needs to show your passport and have the details recorded.
In my experience, it is very rare for hotels in Asia to allow 4 people in a room. Consider a serviced apartment instead, such as Centrepoint Silom (nearby).

As kathie says when you check in, but that is pretty much the same in most countries.
You need to be registered at the hotel, 100% all of you.
You don't need to show your passport 'every time you enter' the hotel, some hotel security may ask to see your room key/card, that is simply to make sure it is guests heading to rooms.
If you want 4 to a room then seek out those hotels with suites or serviced apartments for 4, don't try the sneeking people in thing, the hotel will 'not be amused' at all ! You would be having 4 people stay in their hotel and be paying for 4, simple.
I am sure if you post a topic about hotels in BKK,HKG,SGN for 4 persons many people will give you ideas and suggestions for best places, also state whether the 4 persons are all adults or whether it is a family incluidng children to get the best tips where to stay.

"Hotel tips needed HKG/BKK/SGN 4 persons" and that will attract the attention of forum members who know of places.

Lebua is a serviced apartment building. I had a walk through of the apartments a few years ago when it had a different name.
The building is very high thus slowing down the elevators and one could not go out on the balcony of the apartment as the door had to be kept locked. I was told it was due to some law.
However, at my serviced apartment building there are 41 floors, and the balcony doors are unlocked. So, I don't know what that was about. Happy Travels!
