Hi-

I thought that I had read that you should have a translator to go through this house if you don't speak Japanese. Has anyone taken the tour? If so, is it necessary to have a translator and where could I locate one?
Thanks.

Admission is JPY1,000 by hourly tour four times daily and is best arranged the previous day through the Tourist Information Center (Tel. 075 371 5649) with a guide.

Thanks! We're heading to Kyoto on Saturday and will check in with the Tourist Information Center when we get there. Is this the one in the Kyoto Train Station?

I visited this house. It was certainly worth the visit without an English speaking guide, I know I missed alot by not speaking Japanese. If you can arrange for an English speaking guide, I recommend it.

I visited there last year. Entry to the house was not allowed without a guide.

I made a reservation through the Tourist Information Center, and was assigned an English-speaking guide. There were about 6 of us in his group.

If the guide had not spoken English, I would probably have missed most of what was interesting about the house.

Be sure to make your reservation as far ahead of time as possible. These tours get booked up quickly.
